Gov. Inslee Declares State of Emergency Due to Windstorms and Extreme Rainfall

Source: NBC

OLYMPIA, WA - Washington Governor Jay Inslee has declared a State of Emergency in every county throughout the state after the recent high winds and heavy rain over the past week.

This means state agencies and departments are directed to utilize state resources in accordance with the Washington State Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and to do everything reasonably possible to assist affected political subdivisions in an effort to respond to and recover from the event.

The cleanup has begun in Washington state after a powerful storm killed at least three people and cut power to more than 300,000 residents.

Police said a woman in her 50s was killed Tuesday when a tree toppled in Spokane, and another died when a tree fell on her car southwest of Spokane. A man in his mid-20s was killed when a tree crushed his car as he was driving near Sultan in Snohomish County.

Temperatures are down around freezing at night, and that's just Kitsap county! The power outage at our house was just for 16 hours which was yesterday. 1/2 a mile over and their power is still out.
