Arrests as violent clashes break out at Reclaim Australia rallies

Source: The Guardian

Sunday 22 November 2015 04.58 GMT

At least eight people have been arrested and violent clashes have broken out in Melbourne and Sydney during the latest round of Reclaim Australia rallies.

About 500 police were required to separate several hundred Reclaim protesters and anti-racism campaigners at a rally in Melton, the proposed site of a mosque in Melbourne’s western outskirts.

Constant chants of “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie” rang out at the Melton civic centre, where Reclaim demonstrators, some covering their faces with Australian flags and scarves, also sang the national anthem.

Counter-protesters from refugee and anti-racism groups responded with cries of “Muslims are welcome, racists are not”.

More on this (from The Guardian):

Far-right activist charged with illegally possessing weapons and bomb-making manual

A Melbourne man active in the far-right United Patriots Front has been charged with illegally possessing weapons and a bomb-making manual days before an anti-mosque rally in Victoria.

Phillip Galea, 31, of Braybrook, was due to appear before Melbourne magistrates court on Friday charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and one count of possessing a prescribed chemical.

Galea was arrested on Thursday morning as police searched his home and allegedly found five tasers, a jar containing a small amount of mercury, and a copy of The Anarchist Cookbook.

He was taken into custody after police received information that some people intended to take weapons for “self-defence” to the Reclaim Australia rally in Melton on Sunday. The anti-Islam group is protesting against plans to build a mosque on Melbourne’s outskirts.

I'm in possession of several prescribed chemicals. My doctor prescribed them.

I think they mean proscribed.

Some ammosexuals believe you can make "exploding bullets" by drilling out the tip of a bullet, filling the cavity halfway full of mercury and melting lead over the mercury. It doesn't work, but that never stopped an ammosexual before.

Yes, because it's not like they came there and stole the country from the aborigines or anything like that.
