Marco Rubio vows US troops will inflict 'humiliating defeats' on Isis

Source: The Guardian

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio has vowed to use American forces to inflict “high-profile, humiliating defeats” on Islamic State jihadis, to show the world they are not invincible.

In an interview with the Guardian while he campaigned across Iowa this weekend, the Florida senator detailed a strategy to fight Isis that left no options off the table – including US ground troops to support a coalition led by Sunni nations.

In a wide-ranging examination of US foreign policy, he also:
- dismissed Donald Trump’s controversial plan to broadly target mosques and create Muslim registries as “not a serious proposal”
- accused Republican rivals Ted Cruz and Rand Paul of taking steps that would weaken American defense and intelligence-gathering capabilities
- signalled that he would not be able to work with Russia as a partner in attempting to resolve the chaos in Syria.

3. Remember the "surgical strikes" at the begining of Desert Storm?

The one's that were going to decapitate the enemy, but ended up just being an excuse to pound roads and infrastructure apart with 82,000 tons of bombs that were non-precision guided and only 7,000 tons of guided bombs*? But he want's to inflict "punishing" hits on ISIS, so I assume that he wants to turn Iraq/Iran/Syria/etc (you know, every Muslim nation, since he thinks all Muslims are terrorists) into nations without cities.

Trump says he will defeat ISIS and stop Islamic terrorism.

What other GOP candidates are willing to put their money where their mouth is?

Rubio only wants to win a few battles for the headlines.

The fact that anyone takes this kind of claim seriously is highly alarming.

We NEED to shift the discussion back toward sanity; we can't do that while vacating the available public fora.

The longer we leave the field to Repubs, the harder it will be to take it back.
