Colorado governor urges toned-down abortion debate after rampage
Source: Bangor Daily News
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado The attack at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic that killed a police officer and two other people suggests that both sides of the abortion debate in the United States need to tone down the rhetoric, the states governor said on Sunday.
Gov. John Hickenlooper spoke the morning after unnamed law enforcement authorities told NBC News and other media that the suspected gunman had muttered no more baby parts when he was arrested after an hours-long standoff at the Colorado Springs clinic.
Planned Parenthood provides a range of health services for men and women, including abortion.
The remark attributed to 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear appeared to be a reference to Planned Parenthoods abortion activities and its role in delivering fetal tissue to researchers, a hot button issue in the 2016 race for the presidency.

(31,395 posts)any kind of organization killing people because they don't support a woman's right to choose?
The anti-choice people need to BACK THE FU*K OFF! If you don't like abortion, don't get one!
If you don't like contraception, don't use it!
End of problem.

it's not the pro-choice side.

(35,699 posts)One side is pushing inflamed rhetoric. "Both sides are doing it" is a copout and victim blaming. What is the "other side" saying which is the equivalent of one side talking about "selling baby parts?" Answer: Nothing.

(2,871 posts)"both sides need to tone down the rhetoric
No.
One side does.
One side has consistently called for bloodletting on the other.
One side has been murdering health care professionals and police.
THAT side needs to stop inflaming the issue.

But you said it better and more completely. MP

(28,017 posts)Exactly what you said.
So, one side (pro-woman, pro-choice ) provokes the other side - the clinic bombing, doctor shooting terrorists - with words of support for abortion?
Stating facts about abortion, calling out people who make videos filled with lies, and those who spout falsehoods about abortion is what causes the sick fucks to resort to violence?
Seriously?
"Both sides" are NOT to blame. Not by any stretch of the imagination. Way to blame the victims.

(1,095 posts)There is nothing remotely similar happening on the pro-choice side, whether in rhetoric, or any kind of violence. I'm so sick of the "both sides" crap on this, or just about any other issue.

(51,460 posts)the GOP-led House to abandon their witch hunt against Planned Parenthood. How about investigating the guys who made the fake videos?
"I think we should have a discussion at least urging caution when we discuss some of these issues, so we dont get people to a point of going out and committing violence, he said..."

(20,584 posts)from the pro-choice side? Are they shooting up places, setting fires, harassing patients?
I am sick of this both sides are doing it. Planned parenthood has every right to stand up to dishonest people promoting lying videos.
It is time for everyone to call out the nuts, agitators, and criminals who are endangering the lives of innocent people - not the pro-choice side by the way.

(20,762 posts)Okay, Goob. Tellya what.
Us advocates for a woman's right to determine what happens with her body will stop rampaging through fundie churches and shooting ministers and anti-abortion activists, if they'll stop rampaging through women's health facilities and shooting doctors and healthcare professionals.
Deal?
Didn't think so.

(4,642 posts)so the rightwing nut jobs can keep getting away with inciting violence. I'm Sick and tired of women hating big government republican pukes spewing their poison and I will not tone it down.
Both sides, my lilly white ass! It's 100% the women hating rw assholes who spew lies and who kill because of them. Who on the left does this? No one!!! Name one left wing crazy mass killer in the last 40 years, I dare you. Maybe I missed it?
This is just another rwnj trying to cover up his sides' sins, because they are so totally heinous. The RW hates and fears women so tries to keep them subservient by making them have babies all the time, wanted or not. So any group that tires to help women gains their ire and lies and lying videos to purposefully promote killing of these doctors, nurses and helpers.
