Neenah Police: Evacuations underway (Appleton, Wisconsin, Appleton, Wisconsin ...)
Source: abc2wbay.com
Neenah Police are evacuating a number of homes and businesses in the area. Earlier, residents who live within a 1/4 mile radius from Main and Doty Streets were told to shelter in place away from windows, in a basement if possible. The request comes in response to a shooting and active hostage situation at Eagle Nation Cycles Saturday morning.
Police say a man walked into the store and fired a weapon.
Officials at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah say one patient has been transported there, according to Megan Wilcox a spokesperson with the hospital.
As of 11:00 a.m. several law enforcement agencies were on the scene, including: The Wisconsin State Patrol, Winnebago and Outagamie County Sheriffs Offices, Neenah Police, Town of Menasha Police, and the Appleton Police (SWAT Team).

(16,829 posts)They call it the Fox Valley area in Wisconsin. Neenah, Oshkosh, and Appleton - 3 medium sized cities in east central WI. Not too much news coming out of there most of the time.

(8,879 posts)Eagle Nation Cycle is motorcycles. Cranked is bicycles a couple doors down. We just had a mass shooting in the park not too long ago. Our community used to be so sleepy and serene. No longer.
question everything
(47,484 posts)from the source, but most of us have no idea where Neenah is. Appleton is more known and simply include Wisconsin, or WI, if the title is too long is enough.
Happens too often here and on occasions I put my request.

Most kids outgrow them at an early age. Some never outgrow their irrational fears though and live as slaves to them forever

I didn't see or hear anything unusual.
I was just saying to my wife that it is nice to live in a small town-stuff rarely happens here(I live a bit outside of the area). Nice to see they are coming to me so I don't have to go to them.

Today's defenders of that slave-owners' anachronism called the 2nd amendment are ethically challenged and morally culpable in America's current bullet-riddled kids bloody-body world.
The argument that the 2nd amendment gives gun owners the right to decide that the current government is now a problem, and the right to resist with weapons of mass destruction, lacks any standards for applying the 2nd amendment remedy. Who calls out the militia?
If the Heller folks are right, our future is hellish because the 2nd amendment allows any disgruntled American to claim this is the right time to slaughter for the cause of the 2nd amendment. Call it a version of (walk free) stand your ground.
"Sorry, officer. I had to do it because my Palestinian wife has been harassed daily by racist American assholes and the government hasn't lifted a finger to help us American Muslims.
Therefore the government is now declared to be null and void."
"Sorry, officer. I had to do it because my black mother has been harassed daily for 60 years by racist American assholes and the government hasn't lifted a finger to help Black American.
Therefore the government is now declared to be null and void."
Those who accept the status-quo of gun-terrorism in America are morally defective.

(160,542 posts)Shooter holds hostages in standoff at Wisconsin motorcycle shop
The shooter reportedly sold a motorcycle and later changed his mind, going to the shop with the intention of retrieving it.
By Stephen Feller | Dec. 5, 2015 at 4:58 PM
NEENAH, Wis., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Homes and businesses were evacuated Saturday morning after a man opened fire at a motorcycle repair shop, sending at least one person to the hospital and holding another hostage.
Police reported a man walked into Eagle Nation Cycles in Neenah, Wis., early Saturday morning, and opened fire. A SWAT team, as well as representatives from six law enforcement agencies in the surrounding area, responded to the situation, according to WITI-TV.
Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert told reporters there was a volley of shots fired -- possibly 30 or more -- however police have the scene was made safe and were in the process of "final clearing operations" in the area. "We believe we have everyone accounted for," Neenah Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson said. "There is no threat to the community."
A man who'd sold his motorcycle but changed his mind went into Eagle Nation this morning to retrieve the vehicle, reported the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
