Over 60 dead as Kandahar airport siege ends

Kabul - More than 60 people were killed in the Kandahar airport siege that started late on Tuesday and lasted for more than 24 hours, said an official on Thursday.
"The last attacker was killed around 20:15 last night," Defence Ministry spokesperson Dawlat Waziri said.
He said 38 civilians, including women and children, 10 Afghan army soldiers, 2 Afghan police, and 11 attackers were killed.
The attack also injured "37 people, including 14 civilians, 17 Afghan army and 4 Afghan police personnel", he said.
