A Muslim woman was nearly shot Thursday as she left a Florida mosque, and another woman was nearly run off the road.

Someone fired at least one gunshot at the woman as she drove away from the mosque in east Tampa, near Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, reported WTSP-TV. She was not injured, and police have not identified or arrested a suspect.

Another Muslim woman reported a man threw rocks and other items at her and tried to run her off the road as she drove away from a mosque in New Tampa.

Muslims around the nation have faced violence, threats and harassment since the Nov. 13 terrorist attacks in Paris, and Muslims in the Tampa area feared the backlash would grow worse after last week’s mass shooting in San Bernardino.

You end up with a situation like Sunni and Shia in Baghdad, or republican and loyalist in Northern Ireland, where 2 groups of terrorists use the last attack by the others as a 'justification' for one more.

If this is the mosque I think it is, it is probably the largest one in town. We have a whole slew of small storefront ones, especially near USF, but if this is the one on Slight near the Hard Rock, it is the largest, and thus a target.

It is a shame especially as the Islamic community has benefited Tampa a lot. Between the medical staff, IT techs, and restaurateurs, a big gaping hole would be left if they were not here. The community is so strong they formed two of the town's major fast food franchises: Pita Republic and Salem's Gyros.

"The world's largest confederate flag" flying in the same area. The ignorance and intolerance has been here a long time. It's easy to blame tRump but this shit happens to minorities in Tampa a lot.

I was in a shop yesterday and a stranger came up and asked me if I was afraid of the Muslims coming here. I replied "No, not at all." He went off on a rant about how they are coming here to force us to adopt their religious beliefs and laws. I gave him a eye roll and moved away, but I found it rather bizarre that he started a conversation with a stranger to stir up that shit.

I said "Hey, she doesn't own the store..leave her alone"
She: "I don't care, with all the trash coming in this country I'm not in a good mood" (Which was a weird answer!)
Me: "I'm more worried about ignorant Fox news viewers killing people than all the Muslims put together"

Her and 2 people in line gave me looks that would have melted steel! Piss on um..

for the Muslim Americans in this country. It's shameful. Canada, on the other hand, can't be commended enough. I'm hoping to see rallies soon supporting them. It's just a national shame, an embarrassment to the rest of the world.
