Brian Williams, Back From Surgery, Will Anchor on NBC

Source: Ad Week

Brian Williams makes his return to NBC News this afternoon as he anchors a special report on the breaking news from Los Angeles, as the LA Unified School District gives an update on the system-wide school closure today.

This will be Williams’ first appearance on NBC in almost a year, since his suspension, and eventual removal from NBC Nightly News. With Lester Holt out sick today, Williams will be pitching to anchor the special report at 1 p.m. ET. Williams returned to his role as MSNBC breaking news anchor yesterday after undergoing surgery for lower back problems last week. Pete Williams in Washington and Joe Fryer in Los Angeles will also take part. The special report will simulcast on MSNBC and NBCNews.com.

He said he hurt his back while aboard the recent secret space shuttle flight. They came under fire from Klingons who were cooperating with ISIS to smuggle a photon torpedo into Milwaukee.

Fortunately, his girlfriend (who is from Canada and an ice skater) alerted them, so he was able to board the Klingon ship, wrestle all the Klingons into submission (except the female captain, whom he seduced), and destroyed the torpedo.

He got back in time for dinner by slingshotting the spaceship around the Sun and going back in time.

I'm not a fan of the embellishments, but can accept his not being careful about extemporizing.

However I'm kind of struck that every response here is generally negative. I wasn't aware of that sort of visceral feeling on the Democratic side.

He's just a sad reflection of the lack of standards in so-called journalism. We expect it from Fox, not so much from mainstream media--but clearly, we should.

In situations like this, they will just park the person somewhere (like MSNBC) until their contract expires. That avoids messy lawsuits than can be more expensive than just paying the person, not to mention unwelcome publicity. Unfortunately, lyin' Brian's contract was renewed a year ago for 5 years, just months before he was exposed.

My guess is that this will be Brian's last contract with NBC. He'd do great on the Home Shopping Network. They lie about the shit they're selling all the time.

i did not sense he lied. when you get to live a very full life, stories and time lines can get faded, blurry, and jumbled. he was in helicopter in the air at the same time when they were all being shot at. it was traumatic. his helicopter was not hit and he mis remembered. so what? no big deal.

how honest are you? worry about yourselves and your own integrity instead of being mean hearted toward a man who worked many years as a true and sincere professional journalist. be glad you aren't going to be watching chuck todd.

some people have never experienced real professional journalists. you know, the kind who used to deliver the news objectively. today everyone is a pundit and can't control their sarcasm, judgment or own opinions from spilling out. for shame!

and, have some respect.

I have a lot of experience in this, so I know what the hell I'm talking about.

He lied, he knew he lied, the only reason he admitted he lied is because he finally got caught lying by those that were on those birds that day.
