Obama urges Turkey's Erdogan to withdraw troops from Iraq - White House

President Barack Obama urged Turkey's President Tayyip Erdogan in a phone call on Friday to "deescalate tensions" with Iraq by continuing to withdraw Turkish forces from northern Iraq, the White House said in a statement.

The leaders also discussed the fight against Islamic State militants in Syria including efforts to support the moderate opposition in the war-torn nation, the White House said.

the US which contols Nato, have to beg Turkey to be nice?

Again the US is trying to play on both sides of the garden fence

It seems the obsession with removing Assad and thwarting Russian access to the med and the middle east is leading to a host of unholy and unpredictable alliances

The Saudis were happy to get rid of Gaddafi and Saddam then they wanted Abbas gone so they could replace them with their jihadi pawns. But their worm turned on them

Now the Russians and the Iranians are sitting in the cat bird seat
