While we're busy arguing, ISIS become a $900 million-a-year terror regime despite all our efforts.

I realize President Obama did his best; 9,000 sorties are proof of that.

But let's face it: it wasn't enough. Whatever our difference with the Russians, we have to work to together on this.

History may have to record that the Syrian offensive over the last 5 years has been misguided at best, possibly in the utmost bad faith at worst.

The ISIS pseudo-state - whether by design or not - is creating a very good boogeyman to keep voters supportive of future military campaigns in the area, after all. No denying that.
