Mexico official: 'Affluenza' teen's mom deported

GUADALAJARA, Mexico (AP) -
A Mexican official says the mother of young U.S. fugitive Ethan Couch has been deported to the United States.

The National Immigration Institute official says Tonya Couch left late Wednesday afternoon on a flight from Guadalajara, Mexico, to Los Angeles. The person was not authorized to discuss the case and revealed the information on condition of anonymity.

The official says she was sent home because immigration authorities did not receive a judge's injunction like the one that temporarily blocked the deportation of her son. For now he will remain in custody in Guadalajara.

Authorities say the 18-year-old Couch, who used "affluenza" as a defense in a fatal drunken-driving wreck in Texas in 2013, fled with his mother to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, as prosecutors investigated whether he had violated his probation. Both were detained Monday.

....he violated the terms of his sentence. He still has the fugitive charge to face, and that was as an 18-year old, so no juvenile sentence for that.

Rich people don't raise their own kids and the huge houses make sure everybody is isolated. It's no wonder that so many of them turn out to be rotters. The miracle is that a few of them don't.

Yep, there are some affluent people who are "normal" who love and nurture their kids.

family - for all their wealth - lives an emotionally impoverished life. In that respect most of the 1% are the Poorest and most deprived amongst us-imo
Most of us out here surround ourselves with our friends and families...Love, companionship, trust. They surround themselves with expensive little trinkets that do nothing for the soul.

We, imo-in all emotional ways important to Human life are the wealthiest on earth. Money can't buy what we have. I personally wouldn't have all the money in the world if it meant giving up that which is the most valuable treasure.
People who Choose that deserve Pity.

...officially there was no real reason to extradite? But they could have deported her because she entered the country illegally.

This is rich (pun intended) - so now little boy Ethan is stuck in a Mexican jail without mommy to protect him. I love it!

If she fought being deported it makes her look as if she had intentionally fled with her son to avoid his being apprehended. If nothing else it wouldn't help her case any to not want to come back and set the record straight. That's what any reasonable innocent person would do, right?

Yes, we all know the truth of the situation, but the law is all about exploiting technicalities. That's what her attorneys are doing here. They're laying out the premise to try and get her off.

That's the only reason she was deported, according to Mexican authorities. Everyone here is furious about this situation. Rumor has it that the judge who originally sentenced the boy stepped down or retired from the bench right after her ruling. Everyone is expecting the boy/man to serve some serious prison time, but i'm afraid that may not happen. There was never any jail time waived in lieu of probation. His sentence was just probation.
