Man convicted in Montrose gay murder freed on parole

Source: Houston Chronicle

Jon Buice, the last of the so-called "Woodlands 10" still in prison for the deadly Montrose bar district attack on gay Houston banker Paul Broussard, was released Wednesday on parole to Montgomery County.

The release of Buice on parole - he agreed to serve 45 years in a plea bargain - has been hotly contested through a series of hearings before members of the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. Buice's November approval for parole was the second time he was cleared for supervised release. A 2011 decision to free the inmate was reversed after protests from Broussard's mother, Nancy Rodriquez, who lives in Georgia.

Broussard, 27, was fatally stabbed as he and two companions left a Montrose-area nightclub early on July 4, 1991. In attempting to flee, Broussard ran into a dead-end alley, where he was surrounded and attacked by The Woodlands youths, all of whom were intoxicated. Buice, who wielded the knife, also had smoked marijuana and taken LSD. Five of the offenders received probation; Buice received the most severe sentence.

Broussard's mother had called for Buice to serve at least 27 years behind bars - one year for every year of her son's life.

the whole state of TX isn't responsible, there are many liberals living in TX, including many DU'ers, who are working hard to turn TX to a blue state.
You really should either edit or delete this post.

To the brim. I'll admit Texas has gone down hill, and I was happier when I was living outside my home state, but you're full of crap.
