New York Man Accused of Plotting Restaurant Attack for ISIS on New Year's Eve

Source: NBC News

Authorities have arrested an accused ISIS supporter who allegedly planned to commit an armed attack at a bar in Rochester on New Year's Eve on behalf of the terror group, officials said Thursday.

Emanuel Lutchman, 25, of Rochester, has been charged with attempt to provide material support and resources to ISIS.

According to a criminal complaint, Lutchman began corresponding with an FBI informant in November and made numerous statements expressing his support for ISIS and his desire to join the group in Syria. Late this month, he allegedly told the informant he had been in contact with someone who identified himself as an ISIS member in Syria, and that he relayed his personal "hatred for everything in America" and his intention to join the group overseas, according to the complaint.

Since Lutchman apparently had no one to vouch for him with the group, the alleged terror operator with whom he was communicating told him he would have to prove himself, according to the complaint. Court documents say the overseas individual told Lutchman to plan an operation on New Year's Eve and to kill as many Americans as possible, then he would help him get to Syria.

Everybody who watches television and lots of people posting on DU know all terrorists are Muslims.

Now if the guy was "al-Lutchmanni" that's something else.

Now that's out of the way, how is the FBI doing in its entrapment work these days?

Prove yourself by killing a bunch of people on new years eve then the ISIL guys will help him get to Syria? Chances are a terrorist isn't going to make it across the street on New Years Eve with out being identified, let alone get out of the country and make it to Syria.

ISIS, some of whom may be Muslims, are our "enemies". President O is making war on this enemy, dropping bombs on them etc., and has even asked congress to declare war. The only problem though, is their name: Islamic State, which leads people to assume that "Muslims" might be involved. But if we stopped calling them "terrorists", and instead referred to them as "enemy soldiers", would that be better?

I think this whole "war on terror" is kind of dumb, anyway, and people going around dissing enemy soldiers as "terrorists" is equally stupid, because I'm sure they say the same thing about Americans when we drop bombs on them, right? It also makes people mad when they are called terrorists - and probably helps outfits like ISIS, or Al Quada, etc., recruit more volunteers. Are we doing Donald Trumps job by calling them "terrorists?"

Or should the San Bernardino couple, who may have been Muslims, still be called "terrorists?" But if we say that, people are going to think about Muslims! Should they be called "soldiers" instead?

Funny thing.
We have all seen the physical evidence of John McCain giving aid and support to the "ISIS" characters yet no indictment. Can someone explain that to me?

entrap them into participating in a "terrorist attack" that the suspects couldn't have possibly carried out on their own.

One of the most egregious examples of this nonsense was the Newburgh Sting.

The "gentleman" who was charged was directed to make the attack by someone overseas. The FBI does have individuals planted out there in the attempt to intercept such efforts.

The FBI did not plan or instigate the attack.

And I didn't make any logical leaps that weren't supported. "Talking to someone overseas" ain't cutting it.
