Obama has big edge in California, poll shows
Women, independents, moderates and Latinos all favor the president by huge margins over Republican Mitt Romney, whose supporters mostly say they want only to unseat the president.
The potent mix of voters that has powered Democratic presidential victories in California for a generation overwhelmingly supports President Obama's bid for reelection, forming a demographic wall blocking Republican Mitt Romney from the biggest pot of electoral votes available in November.
By huge margins, women, independents, moderates and Latinos are arrayed against the presumptive Republican nominee, according to a USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll of registered voters that found Obama leading overall 56% to 37%.
Although Romney has made up ground nationally since the primary season essentially ended in April, he has not improved his standing in California against Obama. The presidential race has been frozen in polls dating to last year, with Romney's California support substantially below Obama's among the vast majority of voter groups. Obama was winning at least 6 of every 10 women and moderates, and three-quarters of Latino voters.
Moreover, Obama's voters were mobilized by support for him unlike many of Romney's voters. Less than half of Romney backers said they were casting a ballot in order to vote for him, while the majority was doing so to vote against Obama. Among Obama voters, 83% were voting for the president, and 15% were motivated by disdain for Romney.

(7,596 posts)I see your terrible party may select its boring, uninspiring presidential nominee today. A man that NO ONE likes and whose chief selling point is that he isn't Barack Obama, not because of his own likeable, positive qualities (because the talking fence post clearly doesn't have them). You must feel so proud. Congratulations. As for me, I'm just going to enjoy seeing that phony bastard get stomped in November and then never having to see his fake, plastic smile ever again.
I hope you accomplished whatever it was you were hoping to achieve by joining this website, pinhead. Now kindly fuck off.

Bachmann thinks GOP can win California
LOS ANGELES - The California Republican Party is in decline, with numbers so low no Republican is expected to compete seriously here against President Barack Obama.
But Michele Bachmann, it would seem, is an optimist.
Introduced by California Republican Party Chairman Tom Del Beccaro at the state party's fall convention tonight as a "Midwest firecracker," the Minnesota congresswoman told delegates in Los Angeles to take heart.
"I believe that 2012 will be a wave election that goes all across the United States and will even take in the Golden State," she said. "Don't be disheartened, Republican Party of California. Don't be down-hearted."

So, yes this is significant.. at least to shut up Republican idiots like Bachman.

(24,689 posts)It suggests a large percent of Californians have figured out Romney and the Republicans do not speak for them. And what happens in California often tends to be a sign of things to come across America.
So, yes, this is a very worthwhile poll. It gives up hope America is finally wising up to the Republicans.
