Grew up off 65th and 16th NE. in the 70's. I used to live in the public library that was right off 50th and Roosevelt Way during the summer - I think I read almost every single book there.

Once he gets to the park, there's a lot of places a runner can go and get "lost" in the neighborhoods around there - and if he gets to a car, he's right off the freeway or could haul through the district to the Viaduct.

Before they moved to Albuquerque in 2005, my parents told me that efforts to "gentrify" the Roosevelt Way area between 50th and 65th into a "hip strip" weren't working too well - lots of empty storefronts even during a boom. Too many burn-outs - everyone wanted to open a rave/club/microbrewery, quirky or ethnic restaurant or a coffee lounge for the UW crowd, and there was just too much sameness competing against each other. Since there were also a lot of drugs - stimulants and club enhancers for the students, mostly, there were also some rather nasty gang issues.

But of course, no one could compete with the original Blue Moon biker bar...

Started as a carjacking...

http://www.king5.com/news/cities/seattle/Shooting-in-downtown-Seattle-prompts-search-for-suspect-155767335.html

Seattle police say a woman was shot during a possible carjacking in downtown Seattle in the area of 8th and Seneca streets.

No details have been released about the condition of the woman.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 35-years old, blonde haired with a crew cut. He was driving a black Mercedes SUV with Washington license 348-VWV. Police say the suspect is armed and dangerous.

If you see the suspect or the car, you are urged to call 911 immediately.

9. At the link it says she has died. I guess that's her SUV he's driving? Was it domestic violence?

The web page has been updated, and still mentions the carjacking, so they may have been strangers, we just don't know if he knew her. Carjackings do happen at gas stations or intersections or any place a car is stopped.

In Houston years ago, some stations used hi-tech methods I won't bother to explain, butthe driver didn't have to open their door to get fueled at the self-service pumps.

All I see at the link is a picture of a police officer doing something but not much else. Awful.

10. Now, that's unfair to the poor, innocent gun! It's PEOPLE violence, not "gun" violence! Those poor

put-upon pistols are probably just as traumatized at being used in such a fashion as the people who were shot were traumatized!

Always remember, PEOPLE shoot PEOPLE, the gun is just an innocent bystander!
