'Algeria and Morocco must take back deportees': Berlin

Source: thelocal.de

Germany wants Algeria and Morocco to take back their nationals with no residence permits in Germany after a sharp rise in asylum seekers from the two North African countries, officials said Friday.

Alarmed by the spike in North African arrivals, German authorities want their countries of origin to help in their swift repatriations, in order to free up resources to deal with asylum seekers fleeing war and violence.

But the German authorities have in recent weeks flagged problems in expelling Algerians and Moroccans, saying their countries of origin were often unwilling to take them back because of missing identity documents.

"We have a repatriation agreement. That means, everything is regulated on paper. But in practice, we know that it remains problematic in some cases," said government spokesman Steffen Seibert.

As will gay Moroccans. Which is, of course, conservative cause #1 in arguing that Islam is the worst thing since red algae blooms.

not asylum seekers. The terms 'asylum' 'refugee' and 'immigrant' all have distinct meanings. Asylum is granted on the basis of facing persecution if returned home, not because the economy at home is not so good or because you like the weather better elsewhere. A asylum seeker or asylee is a type of refugee but not all refugees are asylees, in fact most are not.

Straight men from Morocco don't have legit asylum claims. They're mere economic migrants.

By throwing away their own identity documents, they get to stay in Germany indefinitely. Crazy.

passport fraud, they should say "we believe that you are from Syria. So we're going to deport you there." That'd get them to fess up quickly that they are from somewhere else. Then they can be arrested for lying to an immigration official.

Morocco and Algeria aren't at war, the real refugees are from Syria, stop the others from coming and limit it to the people who really NEED asylum.

The attempt to say that the influx of 100% refugees, 100% Syrians was met with disapproval from the self-appointed DU enforcers.

Even as reports said that a fair number of the refugees weren't Syrians, this was vilified.

Even as reports said that a fair number of the refugees weren't "refugees" according to the usual definition of the term, how people sympathetic to their plight or flight used the term was decreed to be normative.

A very broad brush was used to label them all as Syrian and as refugees. That brush has been claimed, used, and allowed to dry without being cleaned. Any brush we use now must be very, very narrow. Perhaps single-bristle.

(And really, let's not claim they need to culturally assimilate. The battle over whether cultural assimilation is a good thing or a bad thing was lost decades ago. It's a bad thing. Only when a valued cultural trait is under threat is cultural assimilation a good thing, and very few cultural-trait appraisers have valid licenses these days. Oddly, the appraisers self-issue their licenses and also serve as license inspectors, declaring others' to be forged or evil.)
