Taiwan to start FTA talks with Japan: president-elect

Taipei, Jan. 17 (CNA) President-elect Tsai Ing-wen 蔡英文 of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) said Sunday that Taiwan intends to start talks on a free trade agreement with Japan.

Tsai said trade cooperation between Taiwan and Japan will be important to promoting bilateral relations, and this will include negotiations on a bilateral free trade agreement.

In case no one noticed, this election is being called a Tsai-nami, a major shift in the landscape.
