(1,859 posts)We don't need an establishment candidate for Wall Street no matter how great the Hillary voters think she is. We didn't need one in O'malley either. I liked him other than that friggen giant Elephant in the room.

(26,549 posts)It would result in a ticket that's pretty geographically unbalanced. And it's not like he can deliver MD to either candidate - I don't see either one losing MD in the general.

(11,522 posts)And I hope to be seeing O'Malley in the future. From what little I listened to him he seemed very genuine and knowledgeable.

(2,900 posts)in that she has removed any inhibitions I have had in the past to describing a woman candidate as a complete f****** asshole. She and Cruz have brought back the venal personality of a Dick Nixon to presidential politics. (Trump hasn't risen to the level of seriousness to make that happen.)
I'll be sorry to see O'Malley go. He is a very decent sort, and I think added to the mix.

(10,500 posts)won't forget what a miserable bastard Chris Christie is.
ITA about O'Malley. He is a good guy. All three of our candidates are terrific IMO.

(2,900 posts)However, neither Cruz nor Rubio are natural born citizens. It's time for Trump to file his lawsuit and show the bastards that he really was a birther.

(10,500 posts)a natural born citizen is.
I have much greater reasons to fear a Cruz presidency. The man is dangerous.

Rubio's parents were both Cuban citizens. He's an anchor baby. And while that makes him a citizen by act of Congress, it does not necessarily make him a natural born citizen.
I suppose the Courts will have to rule on it.

Told him he added a lot and we hope to see a whole lot more of him in the future.
We should take care of and thank all of our progressives.

(4,225 posts)In just about any other election I could think of, he would have made an excellent candidate. He would have been my second choice this election, but I don't get to vote/caucus (my state does both) until much later.
The Third Wayers who have been running the DNC from the Beltway ignored and pushed aside the Democratic base for so long that this is very much an establishment vs. anti-establishment election, for the heart and soul of the Democratic Party, which simply left no room for O'Malley to gain traction IMO. Not even 2008 was quite like this. Back then we didn't realize that the DLC types would continue to ignore us even after we won the 2008 election, and of course 2010 became DWS' excuse to not even try.

(10,500 posts)I think that Clinton and Sanders were very appealing, for different reasons, to most Democrats. They earned their supporters.

(1,514 posts)My wife said he would've been her 2nd choice, behind Bernie. I'm guessing most of his support will go to Bernie. Anyone who was going with Hillary would've done it already and not supported M O'M.
He got nowhere near the attention he deserves.

(16,327 posts)I always like as many voices to heard for a long as possible in the Democratic primaries. I think it makes for better debate and stronger ideas.
And another reason I am for publicly funded campaigns -- how the heck was he supposed to compete financially?

(9,535 posts)Could make a difference in such a close race. Could also make a difference if either Clinton or Sanders announced O'Malley as a VP running mate, though sounds like Sanders is likely to pick Elizabeth Warren.

(22,000 posts)Gov. O'Malley is a good person and deserved more air time to get out his ideas. Those who supported him should be proud that he ran a clean honest campaign.
