US urges Turkey to halt Syria strikes

Source: AFP

Washington (AFP) - The United States pressed Turkey on Saturday to halt military strikes on Kurdish and Syrian regime targets Saturday in the northern province of Aleppo, as Ankara weighs a joint ground assault with Saudi troops.

"We are concerned about the situation north of Aleppo and are working to de-escalate tensions on all sides," State Department spokesman John Kirby said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey, US, anti-Assad rebels, Russia, Iran, Assad, ISIS--an 8-way fight? Hope the ceasefire holds up somehow.

If Turkey has invaded the sovereign nation of Syria does this not give
Syria legal standing to invite Russia, an ally, to assist her?
And does this give Russian legal footing to enter in?

should have chemical weapons. Something to scare away foreign invaders but this administration wouldn't have it. They took it away from Syria and that really emboldened the ISIS element. Thanks guys, you just used a rebel chemical weapon attack to weaken the legitimate govt of a country.

Also this stupid idea that the legitimate opposition should not be attacked. You know in the American civil war, the confederates were also the legitimate opposition and unlike the Syria rebels, they did not try to take Washington, just the areas where they legitimately governed. But still 600k people were killed to stop that. Now everybody wants to accuse Assad of being a brutal dictator because he chose to defend his country rather than surrender it to western and Saudi proxy armies.

This seize fire is farce and Obama and Kerry are in the wrong for pushing it. This war needs to end asap not prolonged.
