Gerber recalls 2 brands of baby food pouches with packaging defect

FREMONT, MI -- Gerber Products Company is voluntarily recalling two of its organic baby food products sold in pouches.
The company, which is headquartered in Fremont, initiated the recall after identifying a packaging defect that may result in product spoilage during transport and handling.
The two products in question are both Gerber Organic 2ND FOOD pouches including:
3.5 ounce pears, carrots and peas pouch with best by dates of July 12, 2016 and July 13, 2016 and batch codes of 51945335XX and 51955335XX.
3.5 ounce carrots, apples and mangoes pouch with best by dates of July 13, 2016 and July 14, 2016 and batch codes of 51955335XX and 51965335XX.
An excerpt from the release issued by the company reads:
"Because of our commitment to high quality, Gerber is working to retrieve from retailers and online stores the remaining pouches from the four affected batches of GERBER® Organic 2ND FOOD pouches that fail to meet our quality standards. We are offering replacement coupons for consumers who purchased the following products."
