ISIS member responsible for rocket attack on U.S. Marines killed in strike

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)An ISIS member believed responsible for an attack last month resulting in the death of a U.S. Marine and wounding others has been killed in a U.S. strike.

"Several hours ago we killed an ISIL member believed responsible for the rocket attack that resulted in the death of (Staff Sgt. Louis) Cardin. Jasim Khadijah was an ISIL member and former Iraqi officer believed directly connected to the recent rocket attack that killed Cardin and wounded eight other Marines," Col. Steve Warren, a spokesman for the anti-ISIS coalition, said using a different acronym for ISIS.

He also said 5 other ISIS fighters were killed in the strike.

Separately, a U.S. official told CNN this was a drone strike and that Khadijah was not considered a high-value target but rather a local leader. The official said the U.S. picked up intelligence that Khadijah directed the rocket forces against the Marines.

I rode a Guided Missile Destroyer in the Persian Gulf during the Iranian Hostage Crisis. Part of my duties were to route Intel to various CIC personnel. Early on we had pretty amazing info that could only be gained from eyes-on sources. Stuff like a leaking solid fuel harpoon missile engine, along with unit command trees, and all the usual things of interest.

If these guys use a phone, radio, or even the same courier, and there are eyes and ears out there that will see and hear. We now have limited number of people over there, and when you successfully hurt or kill one, a mind boggling array of intelligence assets are focused on you. Their most effective leaders are very good at not leaving any evidence of their locations, or methods of communication. Even if they never make a mistake in a very serious game of whack-a-mole, chances are that a local commanders life expectancy will be pretty short.

Not only do we have spies in ISIS who may have been present, the scumbag who fired the rocket probably bragged about it.
