Donald Trump Wants John Kasich to Quit the Race

Source: AP

By JILL COLVIN and JOSH LEDERMAN, Associated Press

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is pushing rival John Kasich to get out of the White House race, arguing that the Ohio governor shouldn't be allowed to collect future delegates because the nomination is already beyond his grasp.

Trying hard to right himself after a difficult week, Trump said it was unfair for Kasich, the winner of only his home state's primary, to continue campaigning. He suggested that Kasich, who has pledged to make it to the summer convention, follow the lead of former candidates Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush — and quit.

"If I didn't have Kasich, I automatically win," Trump said Sunday evening in West Allis, Wisconsin

Outside of Ohio Kasich has not won one state and is finishing 3rd in a 3 person race and
he needs >100% of all the remaining delegates to win the nomination. Kasich is running
for a brokered convention which will split the republican party if Kasich is the party's pick
and if Trump or Cruz wins the nomination they will loose in a landslide in the general
election. Oh well.

.... people like Rush Limbaugh and Fox News be the voice of the republican party.
Nobody on the right called Trump out for sending "his people" to Hawaii to look
into President Obama's place of birth because if they had then Trump's run for
POTUS would have been in trouble from the get go.

Kasich has the personality of a demented porcupine. The more he's pushed, the some intransigent he will become. Threats and such will only make him more determined. He barely maintains when he gets his way; when he's thwarted, or challenged, he will go full on nut job. So enjoy America, just in case you thought Kasich was the sane one in the bunch.

He's got home field advantage at the convention and most of that state's delegates. He's aiming to be the Chester Arthur of this election, the guy who gets pegged for VP because of the importance of his state in the upcoming general election.

If it becomes a contested convention, Ohio's delegates can suddenly take on large importance, and they can likely be bought by putting Kasich on the ticket as the running mate.

In this election, especially on the Republican side, being the running mate might just be the place to be, since the two probables both have closets full of skeletons and other obvious liabilities which might pay off for a stable-looking running mate.

Even though there's very little chance of winning fairly, Kasich has a chance to appear Presidential and be reasonable, which might give him a leg up next time. And if they do get close enough to steal it--with Ohio's help--well, unless Trump or Cruz "burns the Reichstag," as GWB did, he will be a President under siege from day one.

It amuses me to see how many of these Republican politicians are waiting in the wings, plotting an unconventional path to the White House. Romney wants to steal it at the convention, Ryan wants a contested election and a no-vote that installs him by default, Christie wants to be an Attorney General version of Dick Cheney for Donald Trump, and Kasich might be the Vice President who steps in early to pick up the pieces after the front guy self-immolates.

The common thread among them all is ambition, of course. It's the one quality that all Presidents have.
