Poor thing.
As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I can assure this piece of inhuman detritus that we survivors endure lifetimes of emotional distress and trauma. Still to this day, I have no frame of reference for recognizing a male who has ethics and integrity, and is NOT an abuser.

Ps - isn't Hastert the one who tried to cover up Foley's crimes?
This is just sickening.

1) He truly didn't know.
2) Hastert had ethics dirt on DeLay, which seems likely for sure.

(70,552 posts)The Daily Kos recently dug up a statement in which Hastert said that given Clinton's
"inability to abide by the law, the Constitution and my conscience have all led me to
the solemn conclusion that impeachment articles must be passed."

I'm old enough to remember Hastert, Newt, Henry Hyde, Bob Livingston, and that drug addicted
pedophile Rush Limbaugh's joy in impeaching Bill Clinton over a blow job even though they all had
their personal "baggage."

(90,769 posts)...need to be slapped in the face with this. And those who weren't born yet, need to have this hammered home until they GET IT.
Bill Clinton is not perfect. Hillary Clinton is not perfect. NONE OF US ARE.
But what the Republicans do is LIE, TWIST, and DESTROY any Democrat who looks like they might change the system that so benefits the utterly corrupt GOP.
I hate them, and I never say that lightly.

... neighbor was the county DA and his brother was Governor of PA. He was a good
guy who played with us kids and he worked for education, infrastructure, the environment,
civil rights, unions, and the good of the people. His name was Ray Shafer and he was
a republican too. He would have no home in the GOP today.
Hastert was going after Clinton and hurting our chances of getting bin Laden w/all his
baggage?

(90,769 posts)Gingrich et al basically destroyed their own party, created this monster. We need both parties to play it straight for the government to function, and from the moment Reagan sneered that the most feared words in the English language were "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you," we were introduced to a self fulfilling prophecy that led to the drowning of New Orleans. In a two party system, when one of the parties does not even believe in having a federal government, we are all screwed.

(90,769 posts)It's a crime of power, predation, opportunity (and they make their opportunities), and compulsion. It transcends country, culture, and religion, or lack of religion. Often, but not always, they themselves were once abused. The harm lasts a lifetime.
Those of us who have survived this have sought for answers that are seldom there, but that much we know.

Penn State sure had one, as well as some
Catholic priest perps
One wonders how many are never caught, or if there
are varying degrees of abusers, some go over the edge,
some tie up their spouses with verbal or physical abuse
Very sad
Are they born this way, or poorly socialized, or abused themselves?
How do they come to view themselves as these superior entitled beings?
I'm thinking of Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" - the super human being
above the law and contributing his superior ideas to society and
therefore entitled to commit crimes. It really is an arrogance beyond
salvation.
