911 caller won't be charged in Ohio Wal-Mart police shooting

A 911 caller won't be charged for reporting a man waving a gun in an Ohio Wal-Mart store before police fatally shot the shopper, who'd picked up an air rifle from a shelf, a special prosecutor said Monday.
The decision was made by Mark Piepmeier, the prosecutor who presented the shooting case to a grand jury. The grand jury concluded the August 2014 shooting of John Crawford III at the Beavercreek store, near Dayton, was justified.
The grand jury had authority to bring charges against 911 caller Ronald Ritchie if merited but didn't, Piepmeier said in a Monday court filing outlining his findings that no charges are warranted.
"I don't find any evidence that Mr. Ritchie knew any of the information he was providing was false," Piepmeier wrote.

The racist had too much time on his hands.
Anyone who tries to harm others is a sociopath.
Synchronizing the phone call with the store video shows his call was simply a vicious act against the black male shopper, as there was nothing on the video which related to what the jerk was saying.

What Richie describes to the dispatcher was not happening in the store. He made the whole thing up, and he admitted as much to the press later on.

Hes, like, pointing it at people, Ritchie told the dispatcher. Later that evening, after John Crawford III had been shot dead by one of the police officers who hurried to the scene in Beavercreek, Ritchie repeated to reporters: He was pointing at people. Children walking by.
One month later, Ritchie puts it differently. At no point did he shoulder the rifle and point it at somebody, the 24-year-old said, in an interview with the Guardian. He maintained that Crawford was waving it around, which attorneys for Crawfords family deny.
This asshole was not acting in good faith, and he was the proximate cause for Crawford being shot by trigger happy cops.

Horrific decision to let this piece of trash walk away from what he did.

(23,343 posts)The shooting is all on Officer Williams. Getting called to a location does not mean the cop MUST shoot someone. Both morons, but only one pulled a trigger.

(2,382 posts)... and so is that scumbag prosecutor. His evil ass should be in jail, but smart psychopaths become prosecutors. They know they'll never be called to account, no matter when malignant crimes they commit.

(1,727 posts)deceitful in order to paint the 911 call as a valid report of a possible active shooter in order to help the city and police department's defense against the civil suit.

(2,382 posts)... your previous response proves that Ritchie was lying through his teeth! The prosecutor had to have seen that as well. Depraved prosecutorial misconduct is rampant in our joke of a justice system, especially when it involves Black men.

For the most part, it seems to be true. The exceptions just prove the rule.

(18,656 posts)A sigh of relief. I have seen several DUers suggest doing this exact course of action any time they see a person with a firearm or item which appears to be a firearm.

(18,656 posts)The callers actions were being defended by pro-gun-control posters in the gungeon. It was stated the responsibility was all on the police and the caller had no liability.
I wonder why they have not checked in here supporting this decision to not prosecute?

(1,511 posts)What evidence do they have for this? How the fuck did the officer not get charged? The guy looked like he was shopping, did not look like he was going to use it even if it was one. This video was painful to watch. I once was arrested at gun point, thrown against the hood of the car by some dickhead officer because a security guard had a thing against me (I did not even know the guy). I really should have sued them, but i was young and naive that they did not do this crap to everyone. Hopefully these two will be haunted by the blood on their hands until the day they die.
