Nearly 6 in 10 likely Democratic primary voters in Maryland support Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders ahead of the state's Tuesday election, according to the results of a Monmouth University poll released on Thursday.
While Clinton earned 57 percent support, Sanders took 32 percent, and 10 percent are undecided between the two candidates. Those results are largely in line with recent polling, including an NBC 4/Marist survey conducted earlier this month, which found Clinton with a similar 26-point edge.
Clinton leads among all demographic groups, including men (59 percent to 32 percent), women (56 percent to 32 percent), black voters (64 percent to 20 percent), white voters (52 percent to 39 percent), voters over the age of 50 (64 percent to 25 percent), and notably, among voters under the age of 50 (50 percent to 39 percent), where Sanders usually thrives.
Regardless of who the Democratic nominee is, 87 percent in the reliably blue state said they would support Clinton over Donald Trump, while 83 percent said the same for Sanders in the same matchup.
Maryland has 95 pledged delegates up for grabs on Tuesday,............

(1,033 posts)the DNC isn't running, last time I checked.
We've had debates, caucuses and primaries.
The democracy will proceed.

(10,336 posts)though, more about her 50-state strategy (either Hillary's or Debbie's)....
Say what you will but Bernie is no wimp.
No doubt though Tuesday will be very interesting to watch ,,...

(22,000 posts)That is exactly what you are saying when implying he should drop out.

(108,980 posts)just as Hillary did in 2008 at this point in the campaign. They both should be focusing on attacking the Rethugs, not each other.

(22,000 posts)There are plenty of people on DU that want to see primary voters disenfranchised. That is my point.
reACTIONary
(5,770 posts).... plenty of people on DU who are butt-hurt because their boy didn't win.
Denial is the first stage of grief. That's been going on for some time, and still is. Anger and resentment is stage two.

(7,699 posts)Hillary's loaded with billionaire support and Bernie supporters aren't even close to maxed out.
And the pure terror of the possiblity of Trump or Cruz winning will have money flying to either of them
from all kinds of people.

(2,931 posts)Millionaires, billionaires, and wall street in general will keep her well funded. And she will return the favor the next time they need it. So rest easy

(11,588 posts)And is the presumptive nominee. There is no way for Sanders to make it at this point, and in fact the math already stopped showing a possible path for him on March 15. Too bad Sanders keeps peddling a con to his supporters that he can still win--send money.
DebJ
(7,699 posts)no matter who the candidate is.
It's not 'about Bernie'. It's about progressive ideals and having the chutzpah to try to work for them and not stop ever in any way possible.
It's not a popularity contest. And nothing is inevitable.
It's a continuous battle for forever. Rights won are retaken if not fought for, as well, just look at US history. So the march for progressivism, true progress, can never stop and never fail to use every possible pressure point at all times.

(11,588 posts)...and will continue her work to help women, children, seniors, workers, civil rights, union concerns, the transition to green energy, to overturn Citizens United, to go after the shadow banking system, other protections, criminal justice reform, to raise the federal minimum wage, to get healthcare past the red state firewall and costs down, to make sure trade deals protect American interests, to help with affordable housing, to keep us secure, to get immigration legislation passed, and on and on.
It isn't just talk.

(39 posts)If Sanders doesn't get the nomination, I can only hope that Bernie will run as an independent. Then, progressives, independents, and republicans alike will be happy to kick Clinton to the road. We will not abandon our progressive ideals. Hillary is no progressive. She's a "Goldwater" girl, remember? We'll cancel out your vote for the corporatist. : )

Bernie sees the light at the end of the tunnel - and it's a Hillary locomotive coming right at him!
As for the poster that said Hillary won't get their vote next Tuesday, she won't get mine, either. That's because she already did - when we voted here in Missouri - a state she won!
