Joe Biden praises Bernie Sanders for 'thinking big'
Source: CNN
Washington (CNN)Vice President Joe Biden has not endorsed a candidate in the 2016 race, but he recently praised Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for thinking big when it comes to how to lead the country.
"I like the idea of saying, 'We can do much more,' because we can," Biden told The New York Times in an interview published Thursday... "I don't think any Democrat's ever won saying, 'We can't think that big we ought to really downsize here because it's not realistic,'" Biden said. "C'mon man, this is the Democratic Party! I'm not part of the party that says, 'Well, we can't do it.'"... "Presidents have always been told by really smart people: 'Don't push something that you can't succeed in it diminishes your power,'" he said. "I completely disagree with that proposition."
"Everything I've ever cared about with the exception of the President's brilliant passage of the Affordable Care Act takes time," he added. "The only way to get these big things done is talk about them."
It's not the first time Biden has made comments interpreted as boosting Sanders. During a CNN interview with Gloria Borger in January, Biden praised Sanders' fight on income inequality and said Clinton was "relatively new" to the effort.

But then again what would we expect from the man who said he wasn't any populist (which is someone for the common people).
What a putz.

(10,597 posts)... maybe not, since I think I read an article right here on DU this afternoon stating that it's now in the hands of the Loretta Lynch's Justice Dept as we speak, like at this very moment. I think the article intimated that the FBI investigation is over, and now the JD is winding down with some interviews. I think I read a date of April 26th, or around that date, that the results of the investigation will be at hand. I believe it was from the NYTs
IOW, an announcement with the results of the investigation appears to be imminent.

Well, at least the Sanders supporters have stopped saying what they were saying for weeks a while back, falsely claiming that "the FBI is ready to indict Clinton".

(10,336 posts)FBI's Comey says Dem convention not a deadline for Clinton email investigation
LONDON, April 21 (UPI) -- FBI Director James Comey said Thursday the coming Democratic National Convention does not constitute a deadline for his agency's investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while secretary of state.
Multiple media reports have indicated the investigation is in its final stages, with interviews likely of key Clinton aides and, possibly, the Democratic front-runner herself. The FBI is investigating whether Clinton or any of her employees at the State Department violated federal laws over the storage of classified documents on a private email server she had set up in her home in New York, rather than with her government-provided email account.

(10,336 posts)FBI's Comey: No rush on Clinton email probe
Washington (CNN)FBI Director James Comey said Tuesday he does not see a need for urgency in completing the ongoing investigation into Hillary Clinton's email server. But he did say that he is staying "close to this one to make sure we have the resources to do it competently," the Niagara-Gazette reported Tuesday.
Comey, in a visit to the FBI's Buffalo, New York, field office, said it's the agency's priority to complete the investigation "well and promptly" but that "well" comes first. Sources have previously told CNN that the investigation has entered its final stages.
When asked by reporters whether he felt any pressure to wrap up the investigation prior to the Democratic convention in July, Comey said no, CNN affiliate WIVB.com reported.
"The only reason I hesitate is in any investigation of intense public interest, whether it involved a public figure. Involves some horrific crime. San Bernardino is a great example. We feel a great sense of urgency to do it well and to do it promptly," Comey said.

(10,336 posts)Grassley: FBI could leak Clinton email investigation
U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley suggested on Friday that the FBI might leak reports of its investigation into presidential candidate Hillary Clintons use of a private email server as secretary of state.
Grassley, Iowas senior senator and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said an anonymous and unauthorized release of FBI investigative materials could result if officials at the agency believed prosecution of Clinton was stymied for political reasons.
Is there going to be political interference? If theres enough evidence to prosecute, will there be political interference? Grassley wondered aloud during a breakfast meeting with the Des Moines A.M. Rotary club on Friday. And if theres political interference, then I assume that somebody in the FBI is going to leak these reports and its either going to have an effect politically or its going to lead to prosecution if theres enough evidence.
The senior senators musing came in response to a long answer to a very general question from one of the Rotarians about the status on inquiries into the email server and Clintons handling of the 2012 terrorist attack on a diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya.

(10,336 posts)the general election with her? Dear God, what a stupid and foolish way to go.
Yes, Bernie Sanders Will Become President. Hillary Clintons FBI Investigation Isnt a Nothingburger
erhaps the greatest compliment paid to me recently was from a Boston Globe columnist who remarked that I must really be Andy Kaufman. Its a compliment, first because Kaufman was a genius, and also because his genius rested in the absurd; almost like voting for a presidential candidate being investigated by the FBI. In 2016, the most qualified candidate according to smart Democratic strategists holds negative favorability ratings in every single national poll. In 8 out of 10 national polls, Hillary Clintons favorability ratings are negative by 15 points or more. According to recent CBS and NBS/WSJ polls, Clinton holds negative favorability ratings by 23 and 24 point margins, respectively. A progressive said to get things done wont be able to win the White House with such negative national ratings.
In contrast, Bernie Sanders is the only leading candidate with positive favorability ratings, and this has nothing to do with Clinton being more vetted. Bernie doesnt need private servers and speaks to millions of people in open forums; Clinton is the antithesis of Vermonts Senator. Its not that people dont know about Bernies controversies, its that he simply doesnt have a penchant for controversy like his competitor. Unlike Clinton, Bernie Sanders can type an email without the FBI interviewing him or his associates.
Furthermore, I explain in my latest CNN International appearance that Sanders is the best chance to defeat Trump, especially since Clinton could face DOJ indictment. I also discuss on CNN New Day that Clintons white privilege allows her to circumvent almost any scandal, even issues that Bernie Sanders couldnt survive politically.
In terms of stark contrasts between Clinton and Sanders, you couldnt find a greater example of two candidates who epitomize opposing value systems. While Bernie Sanders has electrified millions of voters by simply focusing on progressive ideals, Hillary Clinton cant even disclose a speech transcript, or hold a fundraising event without static noise machines.
