I thought it would be some grand home. It looks like non-descript production plant in a office park.
Not being critical - who am I. He loved it and the inside was apparently the focus for him.

He had other residences, too, but Paisley Park was where he recorded and produced, so he spent a lot of time there. His office had three huge beds, one with an overhead mirror. The large glass pyramid on top of the building glowed purple whenever he was in the building.

first and foremost a recording studio and production office. There is also a large stage/performance area and yes, living quarters.

I've actually been to Paisley Park before. Many years ago, in the 80's, shortly after it was built, my Tech school broadcasting class got to go and have a tour of Paisley Park. As a HUGE, HUGE Prince fan, I can't even tell you what a thrill it was for me!! Prince wasn't there (or if he was, we didn't get to see him), but I remember being in one of the rehearsal rooms, and one of his famous guitars was just sitting there on a stand. I could have touched it. But I was so AWED that I just couldn't bring myself to do it. There were also many guitar pics laying around and I think a few of my classmates took one. They kept telling me to just take one, but again, I just didn't feel right about it. I had enormous respect for Prince.

It was a very cool experience. The place had some artistic flair, but overall just seemed very normal and classy.

Edited to add: Though I love the idea of returning to see Paisley Park if it becomes a museum, I also think it will be a shame for it's true purpose to go to waste.
