The Latest: Exit poll finds Pennsylvania Democrats energized
Apr 26, 5:29 PM EDT

. . .

5:15 p.m.

Most Democratic voters in Pennsylvania casting ballots on Tuesday say they've been energized by the closely contested primary between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

But Pennsylvania Republicans say the opposite about the heated contest between billionaire businessman Donald Trump, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

That's according to exit polls conducted for The Associated Press and television networks by Edison Research.

About seven in 10 voters in Pennsylvania say the Democratic campaign has energized the party rather than divided it, while about 6 in 10 GOP voters say the Republican campaign this year has divided the party.

Got there at a good time as a long line formed behind me. Just about everyone was holding the light tan Dem cards as they waited.

I've never seen it this energized. The deeper the divide between candidates, the more energy it always drives.

If everyone is lukewarm over who wins, they don't care that much about GOTV.

Being energized is not declaring a favorite....just that there is a pitched battle going on. And if you haven't seen the highly pitched battle going on here on DU, I don't know what you are looking at.

The people who are not voting this time (and maybe never, or rarely) are not energized, but then they've never been.

this election has brought a lot of youth (who tend to be too bussy to worry about politics) into the battle. It is unique in that. It is a source of a lot of the energy.

But old ladies like myself are energized more this time than even for Obama, and I don't know how that is possible. I thought I'd die of ecstacy when Obama won.

I've never given as much money in any campaign, and taht is because this campaign is finally run on honest money and I know every penny I give has meaning.

I have never been able to say that before. Not even with Obama, because real people like me cannot even compete against Oligarchy and Corporate money.

The fact that Hillary supporters are OK with Oligarchy and Corporate money paying for her campaign is a huge problem that you guys just don't get. A lot of people really hate that about her and her campaign.

Of course, there is no attempt to engage with the point you made in any meaningful way. I always liked Bernie Sanders and still do, but I can't wait until this stuff goes away.

I plan on voting for the Dem candidate, which will almost assuredly be Hillary now.

Some of the Hillary supporters have been real rude and it seems as if they want to drive Dems away from Hillary. Others are reasonable. I really believe that those who are reasonable are true Hillary supporters, while those rude ones are actually Republicans working at phone banks and are paid to disrupt Democratic sites. I know these places exist as I knew someone who worked at one (It's function was to disrupt those who talked bad about Israel, but he also said they did some Dem site disruptions as well.)

It wont work. This election is too important to have a Republican in the White House. And I truly believe that if we want our progressive agenda to continue and get better, then we need to have Hillary in the White House instead of a Republican. A GOP win would set back our progressive agenda by a few decades, if it is recoverable at all.

So either way... Go DEMS!!!

And I agree, their job is not to help unite the party, but divide it. We do need to put a Democrat in the WH, whoever wins the nomination, because we can not afford to have a republican who would destroy all the gains we have made with President Obama in office. Also there is no way in hell this country would survive a Trump or Cruz in the WH. Trump would have the whole world pissed off at us, and Cruz would be trying to bring on Armageddon.

Those who try and convince us both parties are the same, or trolls trying to cause divisions here on DU. Real Democrats, Liberals, and Progressives will unite and make sure we do have another Democrat in the WH next year.

A lifelong 'independent' declares himself a Democrat and invites independent voters and himself to transform our party while accusing the Democratic candidate of corruption and rigging elections - and Hillary supporters are the "real rude" ones?

And we are "Republicans working at phone banks" getting paid?

And we are the rude ones?

Debbie Dino sold , hill bill bought and payed for discusting .Even BO has had to kowtow to the oligachs who own the domestic politicians. It's too too late my dearies. To assume that Hillary is not Mitt Romney is naive . Hell Dam she hasn't got the management skills of a GWB ! And that's fucking Scarry. People hate her with passion reserved for mass murderers. The Congress will fight her tooth and nail. She will appoint the most incompetent Corrupt gang of miscreants you have ever seen. No one in Washington will want to be involved with her administration.

They are going to be singing show me the transcripts all the way .

I got to the polls about 11:45AM and had to wait in line for the first time in years. Several people before me were voting in the Dem primary, most of them seniors or close to it. This contest between Bernie and Hillary has really brought out the voters.
