Cruz denies alliance with Kasich that his campaign announced earlier this week

Source: USA Today

Ted Cruz, whose campaign announced an alliance with that of John Kasich earlier this week, on Thursday denied to reporters that such an alliance existed.

Cruz's comments came during a press availability with journalists, according to CNN's Teddy Schleifer:

Cruz on Kasich:

"I recognize the media is all eager to talk about an alliance. There is no alliance."

Cruz: "John Kasich made the decision, in his own political self-interest, to withdraw from Indiana."

On Sunday, the Cruz and Kasich campaigns both issued statements announcing a strategic alliance aimed at stopping Donald Trump from reaching the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination.

Or an email or something that could be traced back to the Cruz campaign.

Because if there was, Cruz would never say something so easily fact checked.

Him being the epitome of integrity and all.

Ted Cruz's campaign totally hoodwinked Kasich's campaign into standing down in Indiana, then repudiated any idea of an alliance insisting that Kasich is withdrawing from the Indiana race. Yes, Ted Cruz is lying, but what does this say about Kasich actually believing Ted Cruz?

JMinutes later, taking the stage at a convention hall, Mr. Cruz told voters that Mr. Kasich had no path to victory.

“John Kasich has pulled out,” he said, omitting any further context. “He’s withdrawn from the state of Indiana.”

The Kasich campaign did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

But as Mr. Cruz spoke, Mr. Kasich’s chief strategist, John Weaver, tapped out a semicryptic message on Twitter: “I can’t stand liars.”
