Church Member Charged With Fatal Shooting at Sunday Service

Source: ABC News

A member of a suburban Philadelphia church has been charged in the shooting death of another churchgoer in an altercation during Sunday services.

Mark Storms is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting at Keystone Fellowship Church in North Wales, Pennsylvania.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele says the victim, 27-year-old Robert Braxton, became disruptive during services. Church officials tried to calm him. When that failed, the 46-year-old Storms showed his carry permit and asked Braxton to leave. He says Braxton punched Storms, who then fired two shots.

Steele says "it doesn't make sense to bring a gun to church."

and certainly does not bring a death penalty.

I hope that Mark Storms is put away for a long long time.

Where was the 'good guy with a gun'?

but physically attacking someone is.

as i read it, Penn has no "brandishing" law. It does define "defensive display" (showing the holstered pistol to a potential attacker)

the fact that he was attacked after flashing his holstered gun actually helps Storms case that this was a defensive shooting.

no guaranteed conviction here.

11. Only accurate shooters should be allowed a CCW. An accurate shooter could have slowed Braxton's

"attack" (to be defined in court I imagine) by shooting him in the leg or gut.

Storms needs to have his guns taken away for good.

is Hollywood, not reality.

All law enforcement in America is trained to shoot center mass.

Even then the miss rate is more than 50 percent.

There are major arteries running through the shoulders, legs, and gut. Sever one of them and the person bleeds out in 5-10 minutes.

3. Martin Luther King Jr's mother was shot and killed at the organ in Ebenezer Baptist Church.

This was 8 years after MLK's assassination:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alberta_Williams_King

From Wikipedia:

Alberta King was shot and killed on June 30, 1974, at age 69 by Marcus Wayne Chenault, a 23-year-old black man from Ohio, as she sat at the organ of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Chenault stated that he shot King because "all Christians are my enemies," and claimed that he had decided that black ministers were a menace to black people. He said his original target had been Martin Luther King, Sr., but he had decided to shoot his wife instead because she was close to him. One of the church's deacons, Edward Boykin, was also killed in the attack, and a woman was wounded. Alberta was interred at the South View Cemetery in Atlanta. Martin Luther King, Sr., died of a heart attack on November 11, 1984, at age 84 and was interred next to her.

Chenault was sentenced to death; although this sentence was upheld on appeal, he was later resentenced to life in prison, partially as a result of the King family's opposition to the death penalty. On August 3, 1995, he suffered a stroke, and was taken to a hospital, where he died of complications from his stroke on August 19, at age 44.[4][5]

Why not? It makes perfect sense, just like bringing a gun to a movie theatre.

People need to behave and show consideration of others. Whether it's texting during movie previews, or talking during a sermon, lessons need to be taught. And if you are rude enough to disturb someone while they're massaging their love rod, you deserve to be shot and silenced forever.

And dear god....WHY WASN'T THE PRIEST ARMED? More guns present would have helped this situation certainly.
