Pedestrian struck and killed by hijacked Metrobus in D.C., police say

Authorities say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metrobus that was hijacked Tuesday morning in Northeast Washington.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said a man was taken into custody at a gas station when the bus was stopped. The man who was killed was not immediately identified. She said the suspect was “violent and resistant.”

The entire incident was less than three minutes, she said.

Lanier described it as a bizarre incident, saying it was very rare for someone to take a bus and attack a bus driver. It was not immediately clear what weapon was used in the incident.
