Frozen Fruit and Vegetables Recalled Because of Listeria
Source: nbc
A recall of frozen vegetables and fruit because of Listeria fears has been widened to cover more than 350 different products sold under 42 different brand names, federal officials say.
The recall covers dozens of brands including Wild Oats, True Goodness, Great Value, Signature and Trader Joe's and goes back to 2014.
"Eight people infected with the outbreak strains of Listeria have been reported from three states since September 13, 2013," the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement.
"All eight people were hospitalized, including one from Maryland and one from Washington who died, although listeriosis was not considered to be a cause of death for either person," it added.

(12,215 posts)a lot of the products I have purchased have been bad or moldy. I returned several last year.
It's a pain in the bucket to have to put it aside, find the receipt (I'm not sure if they need it, though), and return it.
Anyways, that's my rant for the month.

(20,876 posts)The one here is bad and costly and they cut the Senior/member discount to 5% rather than the 10% it was for years.
They overcharge and no one buys the stuff. I've seen many outdated products for sale in these stores and old produce too. I try to find receipts, etc. and take it back because it is rotten already. Sort of destroys the purpose of buying the $5.00/lb. fruit, etc.
Greedy lot they are.

(12,215 posts)There's a store called Sprouts in So. California (don't know if it's elsewhere), they have stuff on the shelves with expiration dates. I'd always thought was because the management sucks and or the employees don't care. But, you may be right that stuff is just sitting on the shelves because it's overpriced.
