Police: Man seeking revenge causes damage at wrong home

Updated 4:17 pm, Monday, May 9, 2016

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a man seeking revenge against the man dating his ex-girlfriend went to the wrong New Jersey house and caused $10,000 in damage to vehicles in the driveway.

NJ.com (http://bit.ly/1Wl7nBj ) reports Ajinka Kelkar believed a vehicle in the driveway of a South Brunswick home belonged to the other man. Police say the family that lives there soon discovered several vehicles had been damaged.

Investigators say the vehicles' tires were slashed and one had obscenities scratched into its door and fender.

Police say Kelkar was caught on surveillance footage walking around the property with a knife and damaging the vehicles. They say they went to his South Brunswick home and arrested him hours later.

The cops likely started with a search of phone or car GPS signals in the area, then followed it back to this guy.

For a brief moment, we were all assumed to be guilty in order to make it happen.

8. He was caught on tape, they're all from the same town, the victim(s) likely KNEW the guy.

At about 1:15 a.m., a family member of the home "heard a hissing air noise outside." The family member went outside and saw "slashed tires on a Ford pickup," police said.

The parents woke up and the mother saw that her Suburban had its tires slashed, police said.

The family then "saw that their Jeep Wrangler had obscenities scratched into its door and fender as well at its tires slashed and its roof stabbed," police said.

Police said friends who had been sleeping over also had the tired on the vehicles slashed.
