Walmart Public Relations Worker, Fired For Posing As Reporter (To Infiltrate Union Events)

Source: Huffington Post

An employee of Walmart's Los Angeles public relations firm was fired Thursday for pretending to be a news reporter at an event staged by a labor union trying to organize the retail giant's warehouse workers.

Stephanie Harnett, 26, showed up at a June 6 Warehouse Workers United press conference claiming to be a journalism student at University of Southern California. She signed in as "Zoe Mitchell," records show, and interviewed attendees about labor conditions at Walmart's warehouses.

At another press conference a week later, union members spotted Harnett again. This time, she introduced herself as a Mercury PR representative and offered reporters interviews with Walmart officials. When confronted, Harnett denied attending the union's press conference.

"She said she was a storyteller from the heart,'' said Santos Castaneda, 25, a warehouse worker who said he was interviewed by Harnett for about 20 minutes at the first event. "She said she was working on a project and that she was very interested in our warehouse conditions." Harnett wore a T-shirt and casual pants at the union press conference, Castanada said. At the Walmart event, she looked much more professional in an oxford shirt and sunglasses, he said.

Maybe the new rule should be "Don't do it."

I would have thought she would have gotten a raise if she hadn't been caught. She was fired for being caught, not for her actions.

1. Find out who's leading the organizing effort, so that person(s) can be later investigated, smeared or threatened...Also find out if there are any WalMart workers attending...

2. Find out the general vibe and just how far along they are in their organizing efforts, along with how receptive the general public was to the group...

3. Maybe do some subtle concern-trolling among the crowd to sow some seeds of doubt...

4. Longshot, but if she gets lucky someone she interviews might say something ignorant, inflammatory, or otherwise embarrassing, which would turn into another one of Breitbart's greatest hits...

as the article notes. According to her public LinkedIn profile page, Ms. Harnett was Assistant to the Editor of Citizen Journalism for The Huffington Post from June - August 2009.

Maybe soon she'll be working for Breit'keefe Enterprises?

That she was fired so soon from Wall-Mart was because of her Huffington Ties. They don't want double or triple agents around. So as much as I would like to think about another Wall-Mart anti union plot, I figure she was a problem all around.

But I do like hating Wall-Mart!

btw USC = University for Spoiled Children

"I'm here from USC and I am very concerned about the working conditions of peasants." -- HUGE RED FLAG

Between her and (Prince) Romney's failures perhaps soon the money schools will start offering courses like:

Peasant Impersonation 101
Identifying Cookies, Donuts and other serf food items
Successfully Projecting the Impression of Empathy

Then we'll see if WalMart did or didn't send her. This is a company that locks employees into buildings and I'm not buying the 'hey we didn't know where she was or where she was getting the information that she put in her reports to her supervisor' stuff.

Or see if she will file wrongful termination against WalMart.
