German knifeman kills one in 'Islamist motivated' attack

Source: AFP

Munich (Germany) (AFP) - A man killed one person and wounded three others in a knife attack at a German railway station Tuesday that prosecutors said had "an apparent Islamist motive".

It is Germany's third knife attack with an apparent Islamist motivation since September.

Police said they had arrested a 27-year-old German man who had slashed four people around 5 am (0300 GMT) at the station in the small town of Grafing, east of Munich.

One of the victims, a 50-year-old man, later died of his wounds in hospital, said Ken Heidenreich, spokesman for the prosecutor's office. The others wounded were men aged 43, 55 and 58, Heidenreich said.

Unfortunately due to the open nature of the internet, these terrorist groups can communicate with and influence those whose grip on reality may be tenuous. There is no way to prepare for or fight against these tactics.

Really? Maybe I just meant that if he had an assault weapon the death toll would have been much higher. Maybe I should have made that more clear so that anyone, no matter how challenged they might be, could have understood what I meant by my comment. Do you understand now? Is this comment clear enough for you?

In the evenings the train stations seemed to be the gathering point for immigrants. They won't move aside for people trying to get through, they were making yelling comments to women, and generally taking over the area. Police didn't do anything that I could see.

I suspect this situation will only deteriorate as more and more immigrants arrive.

"noticing the type of people committing the murders..."

Males? It does seem to be the predominant theme of attackers on both a collective and historical scale.

You mean the ethnic German named Paul who committed this act? And who has a history of mental illness and drug abuse?

Don't let that knee knock you in the head when it jerks.

The guy with the knife is a German of German descent with mental health issues. Not evidence of the evil of Islam.

yeah, so radical muslims are killing a lot of people, but they are incited.,

so let's skip all the facts and what the muslim holy book really says. Let's skip the fact that NOT ONE person has answered a single question such as:

- are muslims taught that it's okay to kill gay people

and let just say that calling people bigots without understanding what the concerns are is not going to change anyone's minds. Calling someone a bigot after a terrorist attack is lazy and dangerous.

I don't expect to get anything coherent back from you.

This was a native born ethnic German who committed the crimes.

Amazing how there is a rush to judgement among even supposedly level headed, logical people. How about doing a little research before determining guilt?

The Latest: German stabbing suspect may have taken drugs

By Associated Press May 10 at 9:52 AM

BERLIN — The Latest on a knife attack at a German train station (all times local):

3:45 p.m.

German investigators say the suspect in the station stabbing told them he had taken drugs, though they’ve found no record of any previous narcotics case against him.

Senior police official Lothar Koehler said Tuesday that the man said in questioning that he had taken his shoes off because “he felt bugs on his feet that had caused blisters and were generating intense heat.”

He says there are indications that the man may have taken drugs two days ago in the Giessen area, where he lives, and that may have contributed to the suspect’s confused state.

The islamist motive has been debunked. The perpetrator was obviously drunk or drugged. As a reporter for Bayerisches Fernsehen (national public TV), I know that from colleagues who are covering the story. And from experience I can tell you never to trust AFP if it's your only source...

Merkel is blamed on this thread, no politicians are blamed in the other. "US foreign policy" is mentioned here, no policy of any kind mentioned in the other. Speculation about some Islamist motive is mentioned here, no motive in the other.

Why is that?
