CandidateX is Rep/Dem-lite, or unelectable, or established, unestablished, or untrustworthy. I won't vote for CandidateX if they are the nominee because of my morals, values, purity, or some bullshit. Let's cherry pick one or two of their Conservative/Liberal views or associations, and blow them out of proportion to prove how they aren't a real Dems/Reps. Or let's twist or downright lie about CandidateX's record. In the case of Dems, let's promote Bill Clinton's economic record as worse then the two Bushes that surrounded his presidency, or promote Bernie as a gun nut or ignoring/hating Black People. My favorite: let's blame the media for anything/everything, and then associate CandidateX with the media! The examples are numerous on both sides.

I will admit that trolling Repukes is a lot more effective. Hate-filled, paranoid minds are easier to manipulate than tolerant, fact-embracing ones. Some DUers still fall for it though, and the DU judges who should be policing their right-wing trolls don't have a fucking clue.

A lot of the "trolls" we encounter are professional and know how to provoke without getting banned. Once the election season passes, many mysteriously disappear for four years.

If you have plans like that you don't broadcast it to the world...unless the goal is to create suspicion in people. Which works just like the plan to divide people.

There are so many games being played it is best not to believe anything at all.

It is easy to trace IP addresses. Therefore the trolling works best if it originates from lots of different sources.

This is the same as Bush supporters saying "Nader could steal votes from Gore (nudge, nudge, hint hint)" back in 2000 which was a call for Republicans to donate to Nader.

I judge posters on what they say and how they say it...and dismiss those who are divisive and seem to want to cause drama without regard to why they do it or for what purpose.

I'm anti-Trump, unlike many others here in the last few months.

Primary madness has driven various people into paranoid self-immolation, and I've lost sympathy for the practice altogether in the last few days. Reading people on DU justify threats of physical violence because Hillary has rendered me completely fed up with the crew that does so. In fact, it may very well be that these people are the Trump 101st Keyboard Brigade thoroughly discrediting all that is good about progressive liberalism, kinda like the guy in Nevada with the chair.

Excellent post. I have long suspected that some "Hillary Supporters" who are very mean are really Trumpsters trying to divide the Democratic Party. You can tell when they focus on the FBI, Benghazi, call it the "Democrat" Party and attack her on her small failings while ignoring her big ones like voting for the Iraq War and stirring up trouble in Syria and Libya.
