Bernie Sanders Questions Donald Trump's Wealth: 'He Is Probably as Broke as Everybody Else'
Source: ABC News
By DAVID CAPLAN
Donald Trump's seemingly lavish lifestyle may include private jets, yachts and penthouse apartments, but Bernie Sanders isn't so sure that the presumptive GOP presidential nominee is as wealthy as he suggests.
At a campaign event Saturday at Kimball Park in National City, California, Sanders told the crowd of thousands, Trump "tells us is he is a billionaire. Who knows? He is probably as broke as everybody else is.
The Democratic presidential hopeful, who is campaigning in Southern California ahead of the state's June 7 primary, has expressed similar doubts in the past. At Saturday's rally, Sanders said Trump "doesnt often tell the truth," and that includes claims about his wealth.
But as ABC News previously reported, Trump took in at least $619 million last year, according to an ABC News analysis of Trump's personal financial disclosure documents. He continues to refuse to release his full tax returns despite calls from both sides of the aisle to make them public, citing an ongoing audit. Trump has said repeatedly that he will release his returns once the audit is complete.

The largest union federation in America wont be backing Hillary Clinton for now.

The biggest prize in labor endorsements wont be doled out next week as many people expected, according to an email from the president of the AFL-CIO labor federation obtained by The Huffington Post.
In his email, Richard Trumka told members of the AFL-CIO executive council that the body wont be holding a vote on whether to endorse Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders at its annual winter meeting in San Diego.
Following recent discussion at the AFL-CIOs Executive Committee meeting and subsequent conversations with many of you, I have concluded that there is broad consensus for the AFL-CIO to remain neutral in the presidential primaries for the time being and refrain from endorsing any candidate at this moment, Trumka said.
The decision is a coup for Sanders backers within organized labor. Clinton has managed to lock down endorsements from unions representing a majority of unionized workers in this country. But the AFL-CIO endorsement is the most potent of all, and it wont be going to Clinton at least, not yet.

Trump has responded poorly when people have questioned how rich he is. It looks like Sanders might be trying to get under Trump's skin.

I think the Dem camps have decided to attack Trump for a while, not each other, good idea.

(20,202 posts)His losses offset his income, because he really isn't that great of a businessman. He's done an excellent job of building his brand in spite of it though. Of course income and wealth are 2 different things.

(90,061 posts)"SLOGANS COME AND GO"
Former Sec. Hillary Clinton may have just unveiled her general campaign slogan or, at the least, her campaign's guiding principle. When asked on NBC's "Meet the Press" what the "big idea" of her candidacy is she replied, "Look, we are stronger together. We are stronger together, in facing our internal challenges and our external ones." She then went on to repeat the phrase "stronger together" three more times. In fairness, "stronger together" is not a completely new theme. The campaign put a web video out with that title in April. She also often uses the phrase on the trail in the context of comprehensive immigration reform and in the same breath when she draws a contrast with Trump.
However, her focus on it could point to the campaign sidelining "Fighting for Us" in favor of a line that could be seen as a subtle rebuke to some of what Donald Trump has said on the campaign trail. But Clinton was not understated about her desire to move beyond the Democratic primary and focus on Trump. In the battle of slogans, she had this to say:
"There's no evidence he has any ideas about making America great, as he advertises. He seems to be particularly focused on making himself appear great. And as we go through this campaign, we're going to be demonstrating the hollowness of his rhetoric."
And to a question about whether there is anything in Trump's background that is "praiseworthy", Clinton responded coyly, "We'll find out. Because we have to get below the hype. We have to find what the reality is." She also attacked him for not releasing his tax returns and proving "that he actually has the level of success he claims to have."

Ms Clinton seems to have found her voice here.

(1,258 posts)then is he getting help financially for his campaign?
That was my first thought when he refused to release his taxes. That and if he didn't release his taxes then Hillary could claim she didn't need to release those transcripts.
Keep bugging him, Bernie.

(1,134 posts)I gotta say I wish I was broke like Trump. I only have one private jet, and it doesn't even have my name written on it. Well it does, but I used a discount plane painter shop, and they spelled it with two As instead of seventeen.
