Texan who called Obama ‘a male prostitute’ loses race for school board seat

Source: Bangor Daily News

DALLAS — Texas voters on Tuesday decided the state’s school board should not include a retired teacher who claimed President Barack Obama was a gay prostitute and said dinosaurs might still be around if Noah had more room on his biblical ark.

Mary Lou Bruner, 69, an arch-conservative with a penchant for conspiracy theories, lost by 18 percent to fellow Republican Keven Ellis in a primary race for the board that sets policies for the nation’s second-largest school system, unofficial Office of the Secretary of State results showed.

Bruner had captured national attention this year with anti-Islam comments and by saying U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan’s beard made him look like “a terrorist.”

She also made contentious Facebook posts in recent years that include saying: “Obama has a soft spot for homosexuals because of the years he spent as a male prostitute in his twenties. That is how he paid for his drugs.”

Trump will want 20 year old super models to be his secretaries. Does the Education Secretary have to take dictation?

This has been happening more frequently lately. Some of the nuttier ones are losing out to slightly-less-nutty challengers, even in the redder parts of the state. In the bluer parts - mostly the cities and the Valley - Democrats are slowly making some inroads. If not for gerrymandering (thanks, Tom Delay), the shift would be more apparent.

The Travis County GOP is currently trying to unseat their own party chair after they figured out that he's an Alex Jones wannabe.

Of course, we're still stuck with idiots like Gohmert, but it has to start somewhere.

and couldn't find many specifics about his positions, other than that he is in favor of local control in lieu of federal ( no surprise for Texas). He states that he supports science (he is a chiropractor). He is also a pentacostal, so it remains to be seen whether his personal religious beliefs will intrude on his oversight of secular education.

I went to college out there for 5 years. Number one in the nation for incest. The bible belt is thickest in E. Tx. I worked at Mal-Wart and endured lots of N----- jokes from the boss. There was a sign near a town out there that stood until the 40's or 50's that said, "N-----, don't let the sun set on you here." It was an unbearable place to live, at times.

I am thrilled that this awful woman lost by such a large margin. The SBOE does not need any more wack-a-loons.

She lost by 18 points, a sweet defeat regardless.

Admittedly there were less than 30,000 votes cast in the Republican run-off election, but it was still delightful to see Ms. Bruner get drubbed. 😀
