South Carolina Governor Signs 20-Week Abortion Ban

Source: Associated Press

Republican Gov. Nikki Haley signed legislation Wednesday that immediately outlaws most abortions in South Carolina at 20 weeks beyond fertilization.

The only exceptions are if the mother's life is in jeopardy or a doctor determines the fetus can't survive outside the womb.

Doctors face up to $10,000 in fines and 3 years in prison for each violation; prison time is mandatory on a third conviction.

These bans are now in effect in at least 13 states and blocked by court challenges in three others. South Dakota's ban takes effect July 1.

Look, I think Cheney was tickled pink AFTER 911 happened and he may well have ignored signs, but I cant believe he was in on it.

The officer at the radar station asked repeatedly for permission to have it shot down. Cheney refused each time, and almost threw a tantrum the last time he was asked (when the plane was 10 miles out).

"What we did bothered me this much." "That much, huh?"

So since it wasn't shot down I assume he meant the order NOT to?

See how it is confusing?

just 'cause I don't think we should indict all the "stans" as being as authoritarian as this group.

personally, I don't think viability should be the spot, but rather EEG activity, which is pretty consistently around 25 weeks. I'm afraid viability will mean medically assisted viability which will constantly be less and less gestation. Besides, seems to me the SC said not less than 24 weeks.

So I guess some nice repub will offer to raise the unwanted child who was the product of some woman's rape? Holding breath.
