Seems to me Sanders fell for it hook line and sinker.

He knows that Bernie would beat him and win a lot of voters. Bernie's polls would go way up. Trump is afraid of that.

Trump already announced he was out to pick up Bernie voters and he already has 20% of them. The two could talk about protectionism and gang up on Hillary.

If Bernie cared about helping Trump, he wouldn't have accepted the invitation at all. Even going at all helps Trump and hurts Hillary.

Worse yet. She hurts California voters.

Hillary can still agree to debate Bernie before June 7. It's her choice.

What's in it for her? She debated Bernie nine times. Bernie said the same things in all of them.

The fact that she said "Anytime, anywhere" about debates and has since been avoiding them like the plague?

Refusing to debate in the liberal bastion of the country is a poor move.

Bernie said the same thing in all of them, and Clinton didn't... That should send some big flags if you meant that seriously, and not as just some half-assed dig about sanders staying on point with his message.

There is less need for another debate if that's what he's going to do though.

FOR:

1. Probably our last chance to hear a public official say “single-payer health care” for a generation or two.

1. Staying in forces Clinton to waste time and energy learning to campaign against someone with clear principles and political stances.
