Trump tells California 'there is no drought'
Source: Associated Press
FRESNO, Calif. Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told California voters Friday that he can solve their water crisis, declaring, "There is no drought."
Speaking at a rally in Fresno, Calif., Trump accused state officials of denying water to Central Valley farmers so they can send it out to sea "to protect a certain kind of three-inch fish."
"We're going to solve your water problem. You have a water problem that is so insane. It is so ridiculous where they're taking the water and shoving it out to sea," Trump said to cheers at a rally that drew thousands.
Trump's rallies Friday in Fresno and San Diego drew vocal crowds of protesters, many carrying signs critical of Trump's plan to wall off the U.S. border with Mexico.

How can there be a drought? You turn on the tap, and water comes out.

Without going on a long harangue about the state of our public schools, let me just offer,
"It's the education, stupid."

(22,105 posts)I lived in Calif. for 12 years, and there were drought conditions the entire time. I was up in the mountains, about 40 miles east of Fresno. Luckily, we had a good well, because many others in the area were going dry, and they were having to dig new ones at 100 feet or better. Fire is a constant worry.
Trump wouldn't recognize climate change if it bit him in the ass. Those severe weather conditions in CA, along with the huge industrial farms like Boswell sucking every puddle dry, is the problem. Boswell drained the entire Tulare Lake a number of years ago, and no one did anything about it. Before he died, Mr. Boswell owned the largest private farm in America. Google it. http://www.kpbs.org/news/2009/jun/25/king-californias-central-valley/ is a good place to start.
No clue what Trump's talking about with some 3" fish. Doesn't sound like he does either. As far as people cheering him in Fresno, Central Calif. is a whole different animal than L.A. or the Bay. All I can say is that I ran into more pockets of red-necks there--some vicious--than I've ever seen in Kentucky. Glad to be home.

What he said was VERY sobering.
He is a trained hypnotist, and he said last summer Trump was going to in the general election in a landslide because what he is doing is textbook.
Basically people are truly irrational people, and that what trump does totally keys into it. Facts and reality don't matter, the more outlandish shit he says, the more it resonates.
This thing where he puts a word or two on people is masterful on his part.
He even said during a recent speech he did an AB test on audience with Hillary, kept saying, "which is better, crooked hillary or heartless hillary."
Kept working them back and forth to see which got the strongest reaction, and it was Crooked and he has stuck with it since.
He has been a high level huckster for decades, a master at separating people from their money.
Same process separating people from their vote.

Turns out, though, they should have listened to the Cubans.

And even those of us who recognize global warming aren't doing nearly enough to even slow it down at this point. CO2 emissions in the atmosphere are actually rising FASTER today than they were 20 years ago.
This folks, is why we aren't going to "solve" the problem of global warming. It's going to steam-roll us while we're too busy blaming each other for the hell we've unleashed upon ourselves.
