Sen. Scott Brown demands conditions to join Elizabeth Warren in accepting Vicki Kennedy's invitation

Source: masslive.com

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., today said he will join his Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren in accepting an invitation to debate, as proposed by Vicki Kennedy, the widow of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy, as long as certain conditions are met.

More than a week ago, Kennedy invited the two Senate race rivals to go head-to-head in a debate sponsored by the University of Massachusetts Boston and the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, which is currently being built.

Warren accepted on June 11 and Monday, Brown's Campaign Manager Jim Barnett, sent Kennedy a letter saying they would accept the invitation if certain conditions were agreed upon.

For starters, Kennedy has to pledge to remain neutral for remainder of the contentious Senate race for the seat held by her husband from 1962 until his death from brain cancer in 2009. While it is not entirely clear what this condition involves, an endorsement of a particular candidate would almost certainly be out of bounds.

That's a bullshit term, to say the least.

And there's another condition which was reported on TV but not here ... that MSNBC not be allowed to broadcast the debate.

Mrs. Kennedy can endorse anyone she wants and why is he afraid to debate on television?

I can understand a demand that the debate be neutral and that Mrs. Kennedy not engage in open support for one candidate or another until after the debate. But she has a first amendment right to express her views.

And as for MSNBC I would accept that term only if Fox News also was barred from broadcasting the debate.

That is, however, a ridiculous demand. First of all Mr. Brown, you are not likely to get any new votes or lose votes by appearing on MSNBC. Similarly Mrs. Warren would neither benefit nor lose by appearing on Fox News. The audiences for those two stations are fairly polarized.

I dunno why people think a news station with "Morning Joe" on would be equivalent to the opposite of Fox News and its line up.

Such an attitude diminishes MSNBC and exalts Fox. MSNBC is not a propaganda station nor is it a mouthpiece for the Left Wing. Fox on the other hand IS clearly propaganda and is obviously a Right Wing mouthpiece.

Why do even intelligent people fall for this false equivalency lie... drummed up by Fox News and the Right Wing?

and a bully just like his fellow goppers. He is not man enough to face Warren one on one with "hard" questions, plus, Brown is scared to death of Rachael Maddow. If you notice, most male goppers are bullies toward women but are afraid of them, i.e. look at MI and the word.

She's known as a Harvard professor. He's known as a guy who drives a pick up truck. Hmmmmm, let's see, who belongs in the Senate?
In Repube circles being educated and an educator are liabilities. No wonder they're always pissed off.

So I don't think he cares who broadcasts it. He just doesn't want it called the "MSNBC Boston debates" or anything like that.
