Tiger Temple: Forty dead tiger cubs found at Thai temple
Source: BBC
Forty tiger cub bodies have been found in a freezer at a Thai Buddhist temple accused of wildlife trafficking and animal abuse.
Police and wildlife officials started an operation on Monday to remove all the living tigers at the Tiger Temple.
Pictures from journalists at the scene posted to social media showed the 40 cubs lined up on the floor.
The site in Kanchanaburi is a popular tourist attraction but has been closed to the public since the raid.

(22,164 posts)I'm sure they were not put down humanely before freezing, but just thrown in the freezer to die slowly. You have to wonder if these people don't know any better--following tradition--or they really don't care how much misery they inflict on other creatures. Yeah, I hate humans sometimes.

(3,818 posts)the cubs who died shortly after birth and started freezing them to prove to the authorities that they were not, in fact, trafficking the cubs. In nature, in multiple birth tiger cub births, one usually doesn't make it, due to various reasons.
You're posting claims made by the monks as if they're proof the monks weren't trafficking.
The article also states.
Body parts from other animals were also found in a freezer, Tom Taylor, from Wildlife Friends Foundation, told the BBC.
A reporter from the Khaosod news website said he had seen animal intestines in containers, a dead boar and other animal parts.
Which points to trafficking. And this.
Police Colonel Bandith Meungsukhum told AFP news agency that wildlife officials would file new criminal charges after the discovery, and added that the cubs were just one or two days old when they died.
They wouldn't be filing criminal charges if they had bought the monk's story.
I read all the article, not just the bits sympathetic to monks.

Wildlife authorities in Thailand have found adult tiger skins and fangs during a raid on the tiger temple tourist attraction, and intercepted a monk who was trying to leave in a car that was carrying skins.
Separately, officials said they would press charges against the Buddhist temple after 40 tiger cubs were found in a freezer on Wednesday.
The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) moved in this week to relocate 137 tigers to government-run sanctuaries after repeated allegations of animal trafficking. The temple claims the tigers will be worse off.
Today we found tigers skins and amulets in a car which was trying to leave a temple, said Adisorn Noochdumrong, the deputy director of the DNP. He said a search of several monks quarters yielded further body parts, bringing Thursdays haul to two full-body tiger skins, about 10 fangs and dozens of pieces of tiger fur.
