Ryan: 'Not my plan' to rescind Trump endorsement
Source: The Hill
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said on Thursday that he has no plan to rescind his endorsement of Donald Trump despite repeatedly disavowing some of the presumptive presidential nominees controversial comments.
Thats not my plan. I dont have a plan to do that, Ryan said. Look, were going to disagree on some things. ... What we do agree on is we dont want another Democrat in the White House.
Ryan maintained at his weekly press conference that he believes Trump is still a better choice than presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
At the same time, Ryan reiterated that he will express his own opinion contrary to Trump's if he feels the occasion warrants it.
If Im asked a question, Im going to answer it honestly. And if Im asked a question about a proposal that I dont agree with, Im going to say I dont agree with it.

(49,045 posts)No problem with Ryan's clarity. He endorses the racist Trump who he condemns with the other side of his mouth.

Not one prominent elected Republican has drawn a line in the sand yet and said no to Trump. In effect they agree with everything he says, and his demeanor. And if he loses badly, there is no escaping that they gave their stamps of approval.

You should hear Herman Cain try to "EXPLAIN and CLARIFY", (his words) trChumps positions and ideals.
I can stand it for only a few minutes.
It would be entertaining if it weren't so idiotic in its content.

(17,390 posts)It is somewhat funny to watch Trump disrespecting Paul Ryan, and Paul Ryan just taking it on the chin and continuing to endorse Trump. At the end of the day, Trump and not Ryan is the voice of the GOP base, and Ryan understands that.

Peppered by questions from reporters in the days after Donald Trumps controversial response to the Orlando massacre, House Speaker Paul Ryan expressed disbelief on Thursday morning.
You cant make this up sometimes, Ryan said in response to a reporters question about Trumps recent comment that top Republicans just please be quiet.
We represent a separate but equal branch of government, Ryan went on, referring to Congress. We spent the morning talking about how valuable the separation of powers is and how were trying to restore the entire principle of self-government, of government by consent. We will lose our freedoms in this country including all the Bill of Rights if we dont robustly defend the separation of powers.
Trump said on Wednesday that top Republican need to stop weighing in on his campaign. Dont talk. Please be quiet. Just be quiet to the leaders because they have to get tougher, they have to get sharper, they have to get smarter.
