Israel Ultra-Orthodox Protests: Nazi Garb Sparks Outrage

JERUSALEM — Images of ultra-Orthodox Jews dressing up as Nazi concentration camp inmates during a protest drew widespread condemnation Sunday and added a new twist to a simmering battle over growing extremism inside Israel's insular ultra-Orthodox community.

Religious extremists are facing increasing criticism for their efforts to separate men and women in public spaces, and Saturday's protest, in which a child mimicked an iconic photo of a terrified Jewish boy in the Warsaw Ghetto, added to the outrage.

Thousands of ultra-Orthodox Jews gathered Saturday night in Jerusalem to protest what they say is a nationwide campaign directed against their lifestyle. The protesters called Israeli policemen Nazis, wore yellow Star of David patches with the word "Jude" – German for Jew – dressed their children in striped black-and-white uniforms associated with Nazi concentration camps and transported them in the back of a truck.

Israel's Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial denounced the use of Nazi imagery as "disgraceful," and several other survivors' groups and politicians condemned the acts.

not living our lives like they do. If they'd just mind their own business, they'd see they can do as they please and suffer only minor insults from a few while the vast majority of us just leave them alone.

As long as they keep attempting to enforce their religion and lifestyles on us, they will get the full force of just what the hell we think of them and their beliefs.

And the mystical Muslims, Christians and Jews have a lot of common ground.

What is portrayed as "religious" war is usually an economic battle. So English colonialists versus oppressed Irish became Protestants versus Catholics.

They don't make the news very much, probably because no Xian white people are being killed.

The 2010-2011 Burma Border clashes are a series of ongoing skirmishes between the Myanmar Armed Forces (Tatmadaw) and splinter brigades of the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA).

The clashes erupted along the border with Thailand shortly after the general election on 7 November 2010. An estimated 10,000 refugees have fled into nearby neighbouring Thailand to escape the violent conflict.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Burma_border_clashes

In 2001, Thailand and Myanmar (Burma) had a number of border clashes featuring heavy artillery duels.

According to Thailand, their Buddhist temples are frequently destroyed/vandalized by their invading neighbors. The reason: old myths about huge amounts of gold buried under the Buddha statues. Their version of the Ark of the Covenant scam, I guess.

(Speaking of "that whole Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere thing," I just recently watched the 2009 Chinese movie "City of Life and Death," about the 1937 Rape of Nanking. Well worth watching.)

The Buddhist government in Myanmar is as brutal and funamentalist as any, don't give me this bullshit "buddists are pacifists" argument. And the bullshit argument that Hindus want to be left alone; rioting in India by Hindu fundamentlists in India has killed millions of Muslims since partition.

You even got the Northern Ireland example completely wrong.

I am glad my dad did not live to see this nuttery.

By the way... Israel has survived in spite of these nuts... I am not sure if it can survive because of these nuts.

They are the ones against any kind of arrangement and yes, against the mere existence of Israel as well.

Their last stunt (during the 67 war) was funny... stand in front of tanks on the way to the front because, well you cannot drive on the Sabbath... they've outdone themselves.
