'Three Amigos' take on Trumpism at North American summit

Source: USA Today

The leaders of the United States, Canada and Mexico took turns rebutting the Republican presidential candidate's proposals on trade and immigration. As they met in Ottawa, Trump was 340 miles away in Bangor, Maine, promising to build a wall at the Mexican border and get the United States out of the North American Free Trade Agreement that forms the basis of economic cooperation among the three countries.

In what he himself acknowledged as a press conference-ending "rant," President Obama took a whack at Trump's populist credentials, painting the billionaire real estate mogul as part of the global elite.

"Now somebody else who has never shown any regard for workers, who has never fought on behalf of social justice issues," Obama said, "they don’t suddenly become a populist because they say something controversial in order to win votes. That's not the measure of populism. That's nativism or xenophobia or worse. Or it’s just cynicism."

In a three-way press conference in Ottawa, reporters from all three countries asked questions about Trump to all three leaders, who each echoed a common theme: Increased trade and integration is good for all three countries.

Watched and listened, these three Fellows are all on the same page. Amazed how questions were answered head on. No beating around the bush and answering in a mush mouth way. People had better wake up to what is really going on and that is we are in a Global Economy and here in North America,Canada has a more serious Immigration issue going than the US. And again it is the Old White Folk who are raving mad that they got left behind. So if you are not Native, you are a Immigrant or a descendant of Immigrants.

Had to hustle my butt and improve my skill sets and the rest is history. Survived three Corporate Bk's and one Take Over that lasted less than a year before they Chapter 7 on a New Years Eve.

I never hear stories like yours where I live. I'm in Florida in a very red community. At our gym the talk is absolutely disgusting - they want to see debtor's prisons again, and bringing back stockades is another thing they advocate. And of course Fox News is always blaring whenever I go in there. I've tried ear plugs & head phones, and nothing drowns it out. All they care about is keeping the world white and making sure their investments are protected. In a community with 800 homes, we have roughly one dozen democrats. Ugh.

interesting things,Retired Military Folks, and tons of other Retirees mostly from the East Coast. At our Precinct Caucus,we were able to determine we have a grand total of fifteen Dems and the rest are Right is Might Tea Baggers. And yes,we worry about our investments since we both came from poverty and were able to make it. Hell,we would do it all over again if we had to. Retired Military Folks seem to be the biggest bitches in the world. And talk about Racist, even the African American Military Retirees are hard core Tea Baggers and anything Socialist in nature are their enemies. They sure do like their Fake Noise though.

they pretty much socialize within their group. Five miles from the VA Center and you would think by their bitching,it was on the friggen moon. BTW,they have access to the PX at the local Air Base.

I've tried, if only for the comedy value. But this is serious stuff and I start feeling sick a few minutes in.

Obama probably told them, have at it guys.

Can you imagine Prez cheeto embarrassing us at the next summit.

Obama did make a mistake by referring to the US as America, all 3 countries are America.
