Ryan Responds To Trump's Praise For Saddam Hussein: He Was 'Evil'

Source: Talking Points Memo

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) on Tuesday night distanced himself from Donald Trump's comment that Saddam Hussein was "so good" at killing terrorists.

During an interview on Fox News, Megyn Kelly asked Ryan to respond to Trump's comments about Hussein.

"He was one of the 20th century’s most evil people," Ryan said in response. "He committed mass genocide against his own people using chemical weapons. Saddam Hussein was a bad guy."

Look, half the people who voted for it later expressed regrets. That does not alter what their position was prior to the invasion. Same goes for Trump. He did not speak out against invading Iraq, he did in fact say he supported the invasion. The man had cameras and microphones and he did not say 'Saddam is not an imminent threat'. He said he supported invading since we didn't get it right the first time.

of war goods in perpetuity.

And that benefits a few in our "economy", gives them enough power to perhaps influence this, keep the status quo...

Neither is "he was good at killing terrorists" an excuse for slaughtering his own people and paying off the families of suicide bombers.

I opposed the Iraq invasion from the get-go. It doesn't mean I thought the Iraq regime was a model of good government.

“Are you for invading Iraq?” Howard Stern asked him, and Trump answered, “Yeah, I guess so.”

he is going to take a beating over the next 6 months.

But, the memory of the country (and our worthless as media) is REAL short, like a couple seconds.

Either way, even if it ends up brutally bad for the Rs in November, come January 1, he will go back to being the golden boy.

unless we were over there.

Neither the form of government any other sovereign nation takes nor the relationship between that government and it's citizens is any of our business whatsoever, nor should the relationships between any other nations be unless we are part of an international coalition.

Poor Paul Ryan. Here he is again, stuck in the middle, playing dodge ball with Trump. Well, maybe he should have listened to his inner self from the start and "passed" on the job of Speaker of the House. He certainly hasn't figured out the job so far, and also hasn't done much of anything to solidify or unify the ranks of the GOP. But then, how can he with Trump on one side and the Teabaggers on the other?
Lately, not a day goes by where I don't laugh my tail off at the complete and utter disarray in the Republican Party. This is entertainment at its very best, and Paul Ryan, in his own way, is just as entertaining as Trump.
What a great year it has been so far!!!!

center politics to seem to be the "reasonable" party. Every election.

They let the crazies be their foil as they re-establish their bullshit "adult" cred.

Only this time they'll have to do it until the Democrat is sworn into office, at which point they "pivot" to crazy and unleash the media kraken again.
