Sanders Says He値l Do Everything Possible to Help Elect Clinton
Source: Bloomberg
Sanders expressed satisfaction with the progress of policy and party platform talks between his campaign and Clintons, even as some positions on issues such as trade and fracking remain unresolved. "At the end of the day were going to be united," he said.
Trade Deal
At the same time, Sanders indicated he may remain a thorn in the side of Democratic leaders, seeking to use the Democratic platform to block a vote on the Trans-Pacific Partnership during the congressional session after the election but before lawmakers are sworn in for the next term.
I happen to believe that we should have as our vice presidential nominee a very strong progressive voice, somebody who has a history of standing up to big money interests, somebody who is gonna fight for the working families of this country and who has a history of doing that, Sanders said. He declined to say whether Kaine meets that test. I dont want to comment on Tim Kaine.
Warren Lauded
Sanders didnt hesitate when asked if another potential Clinton running mate, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, meets the test.
I would be pleased if Clinton chooses Warren, Sanders said, calling her one of the outstanding members of the United States Senate.

(58,724 posts)There has been no statement where he has said he would do everything possible to elect Hillary Clinton until this one.
silvershadow
(10,336 posts)are patently disproven. You need to come together with the rest of us to help elect our nominee. Licking your wounds isn't helpful. We are in a general election now.

(58,724 posts)It is because you are wrong. He has never said those words until today.
I am glad that he finally has.

(3,205 posts)from the article: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Thursday affirmed that he would support opponent Hillary Clinton in the general election if she wins the nomination.
I couldn't find anything earlier, but I didn't look real hard either.
Either way it's good news, and will prolong Bernie's influence on the Democratic Party beyond November.

(11,257 posts)A shallow endorsement done by default isn't meaningful.
Vetting her hard and then finally deciding to endorse after careful consideration - meaningful.

(15,646 posts)I'm just saying, it's time to lay off. You've been railing at Bernie and his supporters for months now. Why must you continue especially in light of this news and yesterday's re: pending endorsement?
Proof positive.

(15,646 posts)more about you. One would think that you'd be cheering what Bernie is doing rather than acting like the Reps who booed him for saying that politics is more than just winning elections.

(4,642 posts)for both. She already has a political force behind her. Think of Bernie as the reserves, he will be there when she most needs him, and the nasty GOP campaign hasn't even begun yet.
beastie boy
(9,375 posts)And for whom. Methinks Hillary needed him most right after she won California. As time goes by, Bernie's relevance, as well as the commensurate value of Bernie to Hillary, kind of fizzles, no?
elmac
(4,642 posts)& probably big time during and after the convention. Bernie is a dynamo, when he's fired up supporting HRC it will be worth the wait. Bernie's not in it to make Bernie look good, he is in it to push a progressive agenda that is long overdo.
beastie boy
(9,375 posts)But GE started quite a while ago, and Bernie is still talking about power-playing the Convention.
Allow me to remain skeptical until such time that "will" becomes "is" with respect to Bernie.

But if someone gets on late, or has to catch up toe the train when it's stopped at one of the refueling or water-tower stops, they kinda of have to take what's left over.
I'm sure there's room for late-comers to squeeze-in if they don't mind the baggage car or the caboose.
