Michigan residents on Medicare saved $17.6 million on prescription drugs through the Affordable Care Act, according a report released today by the Centers for Medicare and & Medicaid Services.

The report is the latest in a series of recent announcements touting financial benefits of the controversial law in the lead-up to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling, which is expected Thursday.

The savings in prescription drug costs comes from a provision of the health care reform law that is gradually closing the so-called donut hole – the gap in coverage for the Medicare prescription drug benefit.

According to the report, seniors and those with disabilities saved $485 million nationwide through discounts provided for drugs that fall in the coverage gap. In Michigan, more than 23,000 people were affected, saving an average of $757 each.

The media blanked it out and made it generic to the degree that this result of "Obama-care" that people would like, does not stick in their minds and does not seem real to those quick to dismiss anything not called conservative.

when they were doing so well with hearsay, innuendo, and RW talking points?

The decision has been made and all that is left is to publicly issue the ruling.
