Paris calls all willing citizens to become reservists

Source: AFP

Paris (AFP) - French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve on Saturday called "all patriotic citizens who wish to do so" to become reservists to boost security after the latest terror attack.

France's "operational reservists" include French citizens with or without military experience as well as former soldiers, and French President Francois Hollande said Friday he would call on them to boost the ranks of police and gendarmes.

At a guess it would be more like they would receive the training in the proper way to deal with guns as well as basic things like some basic hand to hand combat and other things like first aid which isnt necessarily a bad thing.

that they cant enter paradise if they have touched a pig product. Moderate muslims shouldn't have a problem with this, as they say terrorists don't represent islam. So, counter the martyrdom equals virgins in paradise with their dead carcasses will never make it there. Of course, the belief in afterlife is stupid, but they, and a lot of people, believe in it.

I have a long time muslim friend who drinks alcohol, smokes, never prays, doesn't observe Ramadan, has pre-marital sex, etc etc. We were at a Mexican restaurant for lunch one day and he asked me what carnitas were. I told him "shredded meat". More specifically carnitas are shredded pork meat. I had no idea that avoiding pork is the one tradition he actually followed. He was pretty mad at me when he found out. And this was the reaction of a someone so moderate you could barely call him muslim.

By Ismail Khalidi [1] / AlterNet [2]
July 15, 2016

Nice erupted into chaos Thursday evening after a lorry driven through Bastille Day crowds killed and wounded hundreds of onlookers. Visiting family and friends in Nice for the week, I had ventured out with them to see the fireworks, finding ourselves at the time of the attack about 800 meters from the scene of the carnage.
...

Honest self-reflection would connect these dots and produce a deep shift in policy: Rather than manufacturing and selling arms for outrageous profit, our governments should invest in public education and healthcare at home, both of which are being constantly whittled away and privatized in much of the industrialized world. Instead of bombing endlessly in the Middle East (one report suggests between one and two million people in the Middle East [3] have been killed during the 15 years of the so-called war on terror) we should invest in our crumbling infrastructures at home, where (in the U.S.) roads, bridges, railway tracks and water pipes are decrepit and dangerous to the public.

Instead of falling further into the abyss of xenophobia, racism and Islamophobia, we should listen to and better integrate immigrant and minority communities whence the alienated young criminals who have perpetrated most of the recent atrocities in France have come. Instead of more bombing, we should reach out to the the Arab and Muslim world—not to deal arms or prop up autocrats and apartheid regimes as is our habit, but to help heal the wounds that the West’s policies have inflicted there with illegal, irrational and bloody wars like the one we waged against Iraq. And instead of building more prisons and further militarizing police on our own streets, we should acknowledge and confront the damage which these same police forces do to black, brown and immigrant communities on a regular basis.

And as we recoil in the coming days at the horror of Nice, we must also acknowledge the double standards around the value of human life, which our news media garishly display whenever such an attack strikes Europe or the U.S. Lives elsewhere—whether in Baghdad, Gaza, Ferguson, Beirut, Kabul, Kenya, Mexico or Syria —seem to mean very little to mainstream media and politicians when they are extinguished from above by jets or drones, executed by police or paramilitaries, or torn apart by other grisly acts of terror.

How do you teach someone right from wrong, when they are already brainwashed to murder infidels? Fail

edit: I didn't see that this wasn't a letter from Nice, but a letter from Ismail Khalidi. Now I get why all the wrong things are being suggested.

Do you put on your coat and use it like a mantra?

This Be The Verse

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fuckered up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another's throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself.

In their their best work, the subject vehemently denies any influence whatsoever, especially if they can't see it. But a few thousand years of history, and a few hundred years of repeatable research, stands in reuke of that nonsense.

You don't teach morality overtly, people learn it by how you act.

So this nation has taught too many who weren't white european exactly how they should act toward us. Shouldn't be at all surprised that some treat us as an equal.

Bts, parroting the real estate swindler's philosophy ain't gonna get us nothin' but more war. But I understand how one can be more comfortable in that position.

Pity

The authorities were warned shortly before the Bastille Day massacre that things were getting to the breaking point.

It was reported in Le Figaro - he was talking to Parliament.

I can't find a good English source - this is the best I found:
